On my way to visit a coffee plantation I passed through the remote small town of Montenegro and was surprised to see that there is photo studio; something I'd expect in a more urban setting. Infrastructure in Colombia is poor - fly city to city then ride a donkey to town. While it's not as bad as that, these small town businesses have a #monopoly because of the #isolation.

This domed cistern dates to #Roman times and remains functional today. I stepped inside the doorway to the sounds of frogs croaking loudly. Rainwater filters through the dome and is collected in a cool shady shallow pool. On top of the distant hill you can see the ruins of two Roman mausoleums.

This tiny chapel is within the last remaining gate protecting the upper city of Zagreb. There was a fire here in the 17th century and the only thing to survive was an image of the Virgin Mary; the chapel has been a pilgrimage destination ever since.
