I wanted to announce the exciting roles I will be singing this season, before my debut as Antonia tomorrow in Dirk Schmeding’s stunning production of Tales of Hoffmann!
This season there are a lot of shows: more Eugene Onegin, then in January, I will return to one of my favorites, Chrysothemis in Elektra, and in February I will make my debut as Desdemona in Otello. Please come and see me in #Darmstadt!
There will be various concerts as well, all of which will be posted here.

4 1/2 Stunden spaeter waren wir schlauer und begeistert. Eine Neufassung des wandelbaren Stoffes, mit Witz und Charme in die Gegenwart katapultiert, ohne dabei das Werk unkenntlich zu machen. Eine Meisterleistung, die bestimmt auch Mozart gefallen haette !

@docpop Before I dropped Windows entirely in 2019, I had tested out #Firefox, but also #Opera and #Vivaldi.
Opera requires an operation to get rid of Google search. Vivaldi does not. Vivaldi also offers great webmail.
All three options are great browsers. Chrome originally gained fame as efficient and well-designed. The efficiency claim is no longer true according to many tests, and all browsers are capable of running fast on any laptop from the past ten years.

Today I'm starting a new project to listen to all of Verdi's operas in a month. For my birthday, My spouse bought me Jullian Budden's classic three-volume anaylsis (1992, rev. ed. 📘📗📕) along with his (2008) and Frank Walker's (1962) #Verdi biographies. This listening project should help me read them. I referenced each text throughout my conservatory studies, but it'll be nice to revisit them again cover to cover. 1/n

@thenewoil This is the kind of shit that companies only try when they get a market monopoly. #Microsoft used to be this awful with #InternetExplorer, until #Firefox destroyed their market dominance. Now #Google's #Chrome has a similar level of monopoly to what IE used to, and surprise, surprise, Google are pulling some royally Microsoft level shite.
We can fight them back on this one issue, but the true long term solution is to ditch Chrome based browsers (#Edge,#opera etc) for Firefox/Safari.

I quit #FireFox ages ago because it seemed to need an update every eight minutes; when I launch my browser I want to use it *then*, not after another update. What version are they on now -- 487? LOL
I tried #Chrome but it was a RAM hog and kept instances of itself running in the background even after it froze and I force-quit.
Now I use #Opera, but it updates without warning and has become bloatware.
And don't get me started on Microsoft #Edge.
What is the lesser evil?
I still miss #Opera #Presto browser engine. It is now over 10 years since we lost it.
Yes, it had wonderfully quirky and odd layout issues, but it was fast and lightweight. It also had some #CSS features that have never been seen in other engines, such as the multiline ellipsis. It feels so weird to me the odd -webkit-box syntax became the standard solution for that use case.
Another #browser I miss is #Safari for Windows. You could use it to debug Safari issues long after it's last release.
I'll take "vibrant and penetrating" even at the expense of "goofy," which is hardly an incursion upon the minstrelsy character of Act I. Bravi tutti at #OperaFestivalChicago.

テッちゃんが #Opera 時代を振り返って、レンダリングエンジンの開発保守はめっちゃ大変で、しかも今はますますブラウザの要件は複雑化してて今ゼロから作るのは無理ゲー（だから #Chromium ベースで作った）、みたいな話をしてるのは何度か見聞きしたけど、将来的に独自のレンダリングエンジンを持つって話は（自分は）聞いたことない…
けど、Chromium 系だけになっちゃうことを良しとしてるわけじゃないだろうし、もし #Chromium そのものがあまりにも Evil な方向に進んだ時は、仕方なくフォークするという選択肢もゼロではない…のかも…（いまも毎回苦労しながら #Chromium のアップデート取り込みしてるらしいしそういう意味ではフォークするくらいの知見は溜まっているのかもしれないけど…リソースは足りなそうな印象
