I had hoped to get some #boardgaming in, at least while watching the #NHLBruins games. I do have games of A Feast For Odin and Teotihuacan going on BGA. I got Saltlands set up for a solo play thru but the rules really aren't sinking in. I took a closer look at the foldable dice tower @adrienne picked up at #PaxEast for me, as well as a couple swell looking dice sets, and lo, it is pretty cool. I need to get Pathfinder back on the table for all its dice rolling glory.

C and I talked #boardgames before we started in on D:OS2. I always love talking boardgames. We talked about my #PaxEast haul, tho most are solo. He has become hooked on Tapestry after we played it on BGA and is debating picking up the physical copy. I am not as enthralled, feeling the begin game is a bit scripted and some tracks are way more important than others, but I'm probably just missing something. We've now started a game of Teotihuacan, which has completely blown his mind!

I'll probably do a full writeup for my #PaxEast adventure later with all the games, but I guess I'll just put down a few notables:
Raw Metal (Team Crucible) was my biggest surprise of the show. Very rough in terms of polish, but the ideas behind it are super cool.
Hard to pick most anticipated, it's Rift of the Necrodancer (Brace Yourself), Animal Well, or Mina the Hollower (Yacht Club). All super solid games, basically polished to a mirror shine already.

Still recovering from my long #PaxEast weekend. All day there on Friday (over 21,000 steps!), then a few more hours on Sunday. To be honest, I really need to work harder at getting more out of it. We did go to a session later on Friday and tried to get into one earlier in the day on Indie Games, but that's about the only thing I did besides wander around, gawking at all the cool stuff I couldn't afford because I spent so much to just get it!
#PAXEast has concluded, but here is what we looked at on Day 2 and 3 of the event! Day 4 will be released tomorrow!
We are so excited we got to cover and go to PAX. It was such a fantastic convention and we cant recommend it enough!

Well, I didn't last long at #PaxEast unfortunately. Totally beat! Maybe for PaxEast 2024 I'll pace myself better. I did stay long enough to pick up some good deals on a couple used #boardgames, as well as Cartographers on sale for only $10. Here's my complete haul, all for about $60!

Sometimes I miss conventions. But I also can't handle any social interaction. Simply watching a floor walk of #PaxEast and the like small talk with the booth tenders is just like AGHH
It's quite sad really, cause I am passionate about the stuff they have. But I'm just so awkward and a lot of the time not very knowledgeable.
The only time I was ever confident walking into a booth was the #FFXIV booth when I got to battle Shiva Hard as a group - that was funny, they didn't give time to setup 🤷♀️

I ended up with over 21,000 steps yesterday. The parking lot at the #PaxEast convention center is a long walk from the front door and we were at the very back of the lot. We actually took the shuttle in the morning. One of our favorite things to do is to look at all the cool dice. My favorites from yesterday were the metal D100s - pretty sweet! @adrienne loved all the Stardew Valley things there this year. She even got a stuffed chicken.
Okay! Well over 20,000 steps later, I am back from #PaxEast. It was a great time but I am exhausted. Somehow, I only ended up with one new #boardgames - Vlaada's Galaxy Trucker (only US$10 used!). But I did play a couple with P and I really enjoyed Glasgow. Did plenty of wandering around, a Text Adventure workshop and just had a great time with @adrienne . Can't wait for next year!
Headed to #PAXeast and excited about how my #stevenuniverse cosplay turned out, especially given that it was a bit of a last minute effort 😁

Not planning on doing much, just wandering around gawking, maybe pick up a new set of dice, maybe a used game or two. Might go to a panel. There's a "Build Your Own Text Adventure" clinic at the end of the day we might go to. And I might just let it drop that I used to work at #Infocom, as that's probably a group that would know it.
We got Adrienne off, although she won't get gone long. She will be coming back Thursday evening, as we are going to #PaxEast on Friday. We had a great time last year and we are really looking forward to it this year. I'm going to have to figure out what my used #boardgames budget will be. That was the best part for me, pouring over the used games for purchase. We will be prepared to get dinner earlier than we did last year, where we got shut out of the convention center dining! #today
Negative Covid test!
I’ve been masking at school until I had enough time for a test to matter. I hope you’ve been, too.
The “Vaccination card plus masks” policy might have worked. And unlike last year, the show didn’t kill anyone.
I hope the rumors of #paxeast not requiring vaccination are false. The policy clearly had no effect on attendance.

FYI: #PAX is dropping its #COVID19 vaccination requirement for attendance effective #PAXEast 2023. If you're even tangentally in contact with a high-risk group, it may be time to reconsider attending. I'll not be #PAXEnforcing for the first time in 12 years. I work in #oncology; the risk is just too high.
