One of the UI changes that I think is kinda neat in Counter Strike 2 is that each time you get a kill in a round, it adds a playing card to the bottom of your UI.
It somehow makes it even more satisfying when you pull off a team kill 😎
I tried... I really tried to like 'Starfield' but it's a little boring. part walking simulator and a 'fast travel everywhere with unskippable cut scenes' emulator.
So I may just give up on it.

Most of the time it’s stolen valor by devs who weren’t even *born* when #3dfx was still riding high with its Voodoo Graphics #GPU cards, in hopes that players will overlook the derivative gameplay because they get a #RetroGaming frisson from the visuals.
I paid for *all* the dots in this “Retina display.” Use them.
I forget who was curious the other day, but I broke out my physical copy of @platformalist's game Leaving the Tree today and opened it up again. I had totally forgotten how many cool things were packaged with it. There was so much, it was tough to get a pic on my desk! 😂 I'll try to get some gameplay soon - it's even compatible with most Xbox USB controllers.
The rad wood 256MB USB cart in the middle of the photo contains the game and even more of Andrew's (his Eggnog company's) games too- Maze Dog, Coffee Bug, Winterberry, Cat Bandit, Cake Cat, and more.
Incredible, all of it. Lots of stickers and two-sided character profile cards here too. On the other sides of the cards are little descriptions like on the overturned card in the top right.

J'ai l'impression qu'on parle moins d'#OperationFlashpoint aujourd'hui qui, pour les plus jeunes d'entre nous, était en réalité #ArmA 0 (ArmA qui, pour les plus jeunes d'entre nous, était un peu Five Nights at Freddy's avec des Russes). J'étais pas un fou de simu militaire mais l'immensité des maps et la liberté d'approche me rappelait Terra Nova (cf. plus haut). #bigbox de 2001 donc bien bien tardive.

Well that was a screw up.
I have security settings on my system to stop programs writing any data to any folder.
This means I have to manually authorise any new programs.
Normally that's not a problem.
Today I discovered that the game Starfield, will fail to save anything until you restart it after authorising it.
After I'd completed 2 missions and the tutorials.
Now I have to do them again.
I am not happy... I hate forced tutorials that you can't skip.

All aboard the Unity, now voyaging toward Alpha Centauri - Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.
SMAC remains one of my most played 4X games and I've played it at least once a year since its release in late 1999 and many, many times in the first few years of owning it. I remember it was one of the main driving forces behind picking up a higher-resolution monitor.
Its hard science fiction premise is compelling and the world-building is exquisite. Great voice acting, too with some really memorable performances from the faction leaders. And I adored how the story of Planet and the human colonists and the societies they built in the centuries after Planetfall was told in such wonderful detail via the technology upgrades and a few key events depending on what path to victory you take.
It's easily one of the richest science fiction settings included in a video game.
Does anyone else have a burning love for it?

C'est sans doute le plus vieux #jeu en #bigbox de ma collection, pas fait au moment de sa sortie bien sûr mais acheté par curiosité en brocante à une époque où on trouvait des jeux vraiment pas chers en brocante :'( J'ai toujours été très curieux de la feature, dont j'avais dû entendre parler dans de vieux magazines (déjà !), qui permettait de programmer des trucs sur un ordi embarqué sur le poignet du perso. En vrai c'était trop compliqué pour moi, tant pis !

Fan de #Fallout et amateur de #JaggedAlliance je pensais tomber à fond dans #FalloutTactics, acheté sur Priceminister ou 2xmoinscher ou un truc du genre. Bon en fait je suis jamais allé très loin mais il est dans ma to-do list mentale faudrait vraiment que je m'y mette.
J'étais au collège, habitué à jouer à des démos ou des vieux jeux gratuits trouvés dans des magazines. Les jeux neufs étaient rares et l'idée de pirater ne m'avait jusque-là pas trop effleuré. Jusqu'à ce qu'un copain me refourgue #TombRaider2 (sympathique) et ça. Ça, c'est #Fallout, une claque monumentale, un univers d'une richesse et d'une densité inédites pour moi. Entre temps racheté en boîte, et refait régulièrement depuis.

Pas l'impression que la suite de #Syndicate soit le jeu de #Bullfrog qui soit le plus passé à la postérité, et pourtant c'est le seul de la série que j'ai fait. Honnêtement je ne suis jamais allé trop loin, j'ai le souvenir d'une ambiance folle mais d'une difficulté relevée, d'une interface un peu absconse et d'objectifs à l'avenant. Impressionné tout de même par la possibilité de se balader librement dans une ville de bonne taille, une de mes obsessions !

Totalement sidéré par les possibilités entraperçues dans le test de Joystick (entre #Tamagotchi et mini-réseau neuronal), je demandais #Creatures au Noël suivant, et je me souviens avoir trépigné des jours durant en attendant de rentrer à la maison (un Noël sur deux on passait une semaine chez mes grands-parents loin de mon PC, une torture) pour installer le CD du jeu et surtout découvrir quels oeufs m'attendaient sur la disquette.
