Patrick Ryder to Benjamin Netanyahu: We let you have your little genocide, you can't get a bigger one. What exactly are you going to do now?
This interview about #Gaza, #Israel and #Palestine with Dr. Gabor Maté (Holocaust survivor, and physician, author and trauma expert) is worth a watch, though it’s worth taking note that his opinions are, of course, controversial in Israel. And yes, Piers Morgan has an annoying tendency of overvaluing the audience’s interest in his own opinions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph9XF39yjgU
Understanding our own history as Jews leads us to speak out against Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. We stand for the liberation of the Palestinian people because we have known what it is to not be free.
If Israel "withdrew" from Gaza, & handed back "control" to Palestinians, & it is no longer "occupied":
Can Palestinians FLY or SAIL out of Gaza without Israeli consent? NO.
Who controls Gaza's WATER, ELECTRICITY, DIESEL, PETROL, FOOD (imports & exports), MEDICAL SUPPLIES, & population movements?
Who controls ALL of Gaza's borders?

Five tiny infants died starving, cold and alone. Their bodies decomposed. They were still connected to ventilation and intravenous tubes, 17 days after Israeli soldiers stormed the al-Nasr pediatric hospital and ordered doctors to leave
The spokesperson for the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza confirmed to AFP on Wednesday that “Israeli soldiers had blocked access to the intensive care unit at Al-Nasr pediatric facility, and doctors were finally ‘able to get into the ward on Tuesday night.’”
The parents of the fragile newborns were apparently told by the Israeli military that the Red Cross would evacuate their babies safely, according to testimonies.
But that did not happen.
Journalist Muhammad Baalusha of the Dubai-based broadcaster Al Mashhad recorded the video of the horrific scene inside al-Nasr Hospital on Tuesday.

Since October 7, dissent inside Israel has been violently put down by the government under the leadership of Itamar Ben-Gvir. Yoav Haifawi reports on how repression is deepening inside the Israeli dictatorship.
Israel and its supporters have a big book of talking points that drive home a single narrative: the plight of the Palestinians is not Israel's fault. It's a big lie. Of course it's Israel's fault (and the US' fault). We are all seeing the consequences of 56 years of US and Israeli policy decisions and actions. #israel #usa #palestine #palestinians #war #imperialism #colonialism

Hurt, scared but free now. Palestinian boy recalls abuse in Israeli prison
"There are roughly equal numbers of Jewish people and Palestinians in the territory between the Jordan River and the sea. Neither group is going away. They can either keep killing each other or find a way to live together. That must be the goal. All dreams of making the other side disappear or submit to perpetual oppression will only produce more violence and brutalization of both groups."

It's not "complicated".
If you think it's complicated, then ask yourself for a second who benefits from that thought.
Spoiler: it's the oppressor that benefits from the status quo.
Also: if you're white and you think it's not your time to speak, I understand, but I see Palestinians ask to spread the word constantly. White people need to shut up way more often, but not this time. I only see requests to keep sharing, to keep posting, and to keep spreading the message.
It's not complicated. Speak up.
Why is Biden helpless to do what any decent person would do and call for an end to Israel's apocalyptic destruction and massacres in Gaza? Because he worries about losing the organized Jewish community's support.
Why are so many Palestinian women dying in Israel's war on Gaza? | Inside Story
"Despite their accusation against Hamas, the Israeli Defence Forces themselves regularly used Palestinian civilians as human shields under an Israeli military doctrine called the “neighbour procedure” until it was outlawed by the Knesset in 2005...Yet ‘Breaking the Silence,’ a group of former Israeli soldiers and conscientious objectors...say the practice continued unabated well after it was outlawed in 2005."

Israel just released more than 100 prisoners, lots of them minors. But why were they imprisoned in the first place?

Jailed without charge: How Israel holds thousands of Palestinian prisoners
A Ceasefire Isn’t an End to the Siege of Gaza
"Israel is the only developed country in the world that prosecutes minors as young as 12 in military courts. The most common charge is stone-throwing, carrying a 20-year prison sentence."
The UN estimates that, since Israel occupied the West Bank, Gaza & E. Jerusalem in 1967, it has detained “~1 million Palestinians in the occupied territory, including tens of thousands of children".
“To have one’s moral compass questioned by a country currently displacing a million and a half of its neighbours and demolishing their homes while continuing to build illegal settlements on their territory smacks of parody.”

French warship docks in Egypt, could treat Gaza children this week
The French helicopter carrier Dixmude has docked in Egypt and could start treating wounded children from Gaza later this week, Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on Tuesday, as Western powers look to ramp up efforts to aid the enclave.
The EU has called for an increase in fuel supplies to Gaza, and a faster screening process for trucks crossing the Rafah border.
EU commissioner for crisis management Janez Lenarčič identified both as primary bottlenecks in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, where the situation is "catastrophic" and "humanitarian needs have exploded".
As an aside, of course the #Israeli people have a right to live in peace and safety, but to describe the appalling slaughter in Gaza over the past seven weeks as "defence" is an utter blasphemy.
Israel’s Insidious Narrative About Palestinian Prisoners
Jeremy Scahill: Israel’s “Lethal Lie” About Al-Shifa Hospital as Hamas Base Was Co-Signed by Biden
"The Intercept's Jeremy Scahill deconstructs Israel's narrative around Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital, including unsubstantiated allegations Hamas uses tunnels under the hospital as its command center — tunnels that Israel itself built. “We were told that this was like a Hamas Pentagon,” says Scahill, who describes how the Israeli military’s own evidence disproves its allegations that the hospital was dangerous enough to justify its siege and bombardment. The World Health Organization says Al-Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital, “is no longer functioning.” The Israeli disinformation campaign against it was a “lethal lie,” says Scahill. We also discuss the status of Palestinian prisoners who are now candidates for release in Israel and Hamas’s ongoing hostage exchange."

If you ever feel that your words are too harsh or that you're offending western neoliberals "leftists" and right-wingers by criticising them regarding double standards w #palestine — let this Palestinian's words give you strength: https://www.thenation.com/article/world/palestinians-claim-the-right-to-narrate/
""The Palestinian people, on television screens or more largely in the public sphere, exist in a false dichotomy: We are either victims or terrorists.
For decades, well-meaning journalists and cultural workers used a humanizing framework in their representation of oppressed people in hopes of countering the traditional portrayal of the Palestinian as a terrorist. Not only did this produce a false, flattening dichotomy between terrorists and victims, but the victimhood that emerges within this framework is a perfect victimhood, an ethnocentric requirement for sympathy and solidarity.
Western audiences, much like their politicians, are not willing to engage adult Palestinians, whose razor-sharp critiques would potentially offend them.
And I am honestly grateful for my disdain, because it reminds me that I am human. I am grateful for my rage, because it reminds me of my ability to react naturally to injustice. I am grateful for the opportunity to be flippant, to satirize and ridicule my impenetrable, indelible occupier."
When I see this, I worry people are losing sight of the forest through the trees.
#JimmyCarter has been a staunch ally of #Palestine for decades: I remember in the 2000s, people were railing at him for calling a book about it "Peace, not Apartheid". #Biden may not be as vocal, but he's facing some extreme political realities: he can't control #Israel, and would literally be risking #democracy itself by going against #AIPAC right now. Even still, he's been quietly pressuring the Israeli Government to allow aid to enter #Gaza and work towards a peaceful solution.
Meanwhile, #Trump spent 4 years emboldening the #Netanyahu Regime, to the point where without him, we may not have even had this crisis. That is on top of his ongoing attempt to dissolve the democracy.
I'm not saying we shouldn't protest Biden, we should always question the president, but I hope people understand, when voting a year from now, that Biden is the only good choice the sub-democratic system is giving us.
The Anti-Defamation League’s call for the FBI and IRS to surveil, investigate, and possibly prosecute student activists is a new level in its McCarthyite campaign to silence any and all criticism of Israel.
In an Op-Ed titled “Let’s Not be Intimidated by the World,” Israeli ret. Major General Giora Eiland argues that all Palestinians in Gaza are legitimate targets and that even a “severe epidemic” in Gaza will “bring victory closer.”
Sorrow has taken root in Gaza as Palestinians queue to fill up fuel for cooking. Israel arrested more Palestinians than it released in the past four days of the truce.
@skaly Still waiting for your response on this. I've generally tried to make it a point to respond to your responses and I feel like I deserve at least that much respect, whether or not we agree on things.
So I will ask you again: Are you disputing the facts in the B'Tselem and Yesh Din reports?
On Sunday, hundreds gathered in Ramallah to welcome Palestinian children set free from Israeli jails for the third consecutive day. It was a bittersweet victory however, with thousands still in jail and Israel's genocide continuing in Gaza.
So let’s do some maths:
Israel’s military estimates that out of the 13,000 or so Palestinians it has killed in seven weeks, 1,000 - 2,000 of them are Hamas fighters.
They estimate about 30,000 Hamas fighters in total and their stated goal is to wipe out Hamas entirely.
Given the current ratio of deaths, how many Palestinians will they have to kill to wipe out Hamas?
Answer: 195,000 - 390,000
(But don’t call it genocide.)
