After we got out I stopped at the gas station and told the lady about our ordeal.

i am seriously ill and largely homebound so i made myself and my (house) cat a garden in the bathtub and put the pots in a repurposed rabbit cage so he could lie on top and look at them but not hurt them. after almost a year of hoping i saw an orchid had a bud. first one here. so i wanted to take the cage off to take a photo. but in doing so the impact of my illness (neurological) made me clumsy and i managed to break the bud off the stem by accident.

Is #photofriday a thing? It should be if it isn’t. Here’s a photo of the Faro de Los Morrillos in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. It was an absolutely beautiful day to hike up the cliffs to this remarkable 19th century beauty. Taken in June 2022, it’s one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken.

Back to South Georgia for today's photo and a stony beach near the old whaling station of Stromness.

We were warned to keep our distance from the fur seals as they can be aggressive and this one looks particularly unhappy.

An Antarctic fur seal crouched down into a ball of fur on a stony beach. It's probably not happy with the intrusion of the orange coated creatures.

Inside an abandoned gas storage tower in Italy 🇮🇹

The "floor" you see here is actually the top of a piston that rises and falls with the gas volume stored below. There overpowering strong smell of hydrocarbons in here comes from the thick tar that acts as a seal around the piston. I,nside this metal tube was also hot in the 30°C degree Italian summer sunshine! 🌡️

Another bat from @ProfBatGirl for a #PhotoFriday This is a funnel eared bat called Natalus, probably N. mexicanus (though there was a taxonomic revision since this one was photographed). A bat that always reminds me oddly of a duck. Tiny very delicate, hard to get in a net! Extremely long spider like legs and the smallest eye i've seen on a bat. #batheadshot #bat #photography
