We used to go to the Sri Chinmoy Ashram on the beach, basically for the free vegetarian food. No indoctrination or culty stuff, but I did meet the guru. He pointed his finger at my solar plexus and I felt a weird sensation. Somebody told me he was opening my heart chakra. So that was cool

Next up, also in the new issue of Whitworth Today magazine: I did an environmental portrait session with alumnus Rich Caldwell, a fascinating guy who now works for Boeing developing training courses and materials for pilots on the company's biggest planes. We did the photo shoot at The Museum of Flight in Seattle in front of this Lockheed Constellation. I was happy to see this photo used as a two-page spread in the magazine.

Yesterday morning I met up with Paul, one of my photography friends. He agreed to take part in my Only Cafe Portrait project, so of course we met up at the Only Cafe in east Toronto. The light at our table was challenging, except for the last couple of minutes when I grabbed this portrait. Looking back at some previous work..."Within/Without" is the first piece I ever had accepted into an American Watercolor Society show, back in 2020. It also won the Baltimore Watercolor Society Gold Medal in 2019, and through a bit of serendipity, was collected by Ten Percent Happier for their offices. The show I initially painted it for, before these things happened? Well, it was rejected from that show!

He was wearing the same clothes including the newsboy cap I loved. It was his tm and milkshake, I learned by watching him in the pool room for a couple months.
