Hi again #music #producers! I've been inside a recording studio a few times, and the producer's sound booth was set up where you had to stand in front of the mic rather than sit. Is this common in recording studios, and if so, why? My home sound booth is a closet where you can't fit a chair, and standing for so long makes my entire body start aching after a while. I was recording a podcast today, and after about 30 minutes I had to stop.

I like Garage Band's instruments, but I don't like the midi editor nor the way GB is laid out, and I also prefer using Reaper on Windows. It would also be nice if this tool could send audio back to my Windows PC, but I don't have to have that; I'm fine with just bouncing audio. I'm aware this is probably against Apple's TOS, so I'm not gonna do anything commercial with this.

I like #MusicTechnology but why do we need all that stuff in these crazy scales? New music generator can generate more than billion soundtracks. Understandable from the tech startup point of view but currently 2 tracks a second are being released on Spotify.

They don't "take" content from news #producers. They show an #extract - a #snippet, maybe just a #headline - with a #link back to the original news site for people to follow. This is classic fair use under #copyright; FB etc don't get a ton of value out of it. The news sites get #traffic - lots of it - to try to monetize.

If FB etc were copying articles wholesale, *that* could kill the news sites - but it would also be a blatant violation of copyright. It isn't happening.

NEW ANALYSIS: The approval for the #UK's new Cumbria coal mine makes little sense.

The assumption the mine will meet demand from the steel industry runs counter to leading steel firms attempts to deploy new clean production technologies.

Little of the new coal will be used by UK steelmakers, who are making it clear they want government support to transition away from coal in order to remain competitive.

If the UK government wants to maintain a domestic primary steelmaking capacity, it will need to provide financial support to the major producers to transition, undermining the rationale for the mine’s approval.

It already seems clear that little of the coal from the new #Cumbria mine will be used by the UK steel industry.

But if the government moves to support the steel sector’s transition away from coal – as #Europe is already doing – then approval for the new coal mine makes even less sense.
