Finally #SSB community cleared some time to tackle the multidevice issue.
Although actively volunteering (#product, #usability) for the community, I don't personally use it much nor recommend to friends, still. I will once edit and multidevice are implemented.
For me, it means #SSB is ready for prime-time. And boy we need serverless, cloudless, not-tampered-by-tyrants communication tools.

Is there presentation software (or plugins) that has features specifically for code presentations?
I'm thinking in particular of how surprising it is that Google Slides and Keynote don't have any ability to syntax highlight or format code blocks without contortions, but I could imagine a number of other code-specific features as well.
When a team creates, it needs a direction but the road does not exist yet.

Being too #measurement oriented in process, #product, people compromises the genuine improvement of what matters.
As W. Edwards Deming said, "The most important things cannot be measured." I believe this is true.
By focusing on what is measurable, you give the illusion of importance to things that are not the most important.
This counterintuitively severely limits your ability to manage what truly matters for success.
One question to ask product teams or execs that are awed with LLM integrations:
"What are you trying to achieve that you couldn't solve 6 months ago?"
It's a great starting point to refocus the conversation on the outcomes and not the solution. LLMs might be part of that outcome but they shouldn't be the starting point.

But the instructions where so bad and the build so fiddly and frustrating that it turned out to be a really unenjoyable use of a weekend :-(
The #product is basically good quality from an engineering perspective but no thought have been given to the experience of building it. This has two results:
1. I feel bad towards the brand and will struggle to recommend it
2. People will build the greenhouse badly leading to bad experiences, reviews, and increased customer support

There are 5 jobs to be done in the very earliest days of a #startup:
🧑💻 Hacker (coder/implementer)
💰 Hustler (#sales, #fundraising, partnerships and other funnel-driven work)
🧑🔬 Subject Matter Expert (someone who has an unfair advantage in the product area)
📊 #Product Person (someone who can translate customer needs and the SME's thoughts into stuff the hacker can implement)
🧑🔧 Ops (someone to keep the lights on; HR, finance, office, etc.)
These might all be the same person, they might be 5 people - but they all need to get done. The "hustler" work is a VERY different shape of work than a lot of techy folks are used to doing – it took me a long time to adapt my brain to the mindset of being the one pushing a deal forward. I'm still learning, really.

Reasons I favor algorithmic timelines (just not ones that require premium subscriptions to appear in):
1/ Highlights reel every time I open the app, instead of trivial things that were posted in past few minutes/hours
2/ Get to know users I don’t follow - this is a feature not a bug to me
3/ Don’t actually need to micromanage follows - a major benefit especially to new users
4/ Serendipity and avoidance of falling into the echo chamber

Early in 2023, I stood up an instance off my main domain to check out Mastodon and see if the rumors were true: did it really feel like early Twitter and the short lived ADN?
The answer is yes, it most certainly does, so I while I wanted to continue to engage and meet people,my domain kinda sucked and I never gave a proper #introduction.
I solved the domain issue, so figured I'd take care of the other with a proper first post.
My name is Kevan and I'm kind of from all over the US, but I've been in #Chicago since 2007.
I moved here for college and never left. I came to study #theater and #film with the idea I'd #write and perform on #SNL.
None of those things panned out: I wound up with a degree in #philosophy and #economics and found my way into tech with #engineering (#js, #python) and #ProductManagement.
I thought for a long time I'd wind up in #politics, but my stint running #product at BallotReady during the 2020 election—while the thing I'm most proud of professionally—broke me of that fantasy.
I'm current the VP of Product for a commerce focused #startup. Fortunately, I work from home because this #MechanicalKeyboard is loud AF.
#Travel, #photography, #cooking, listening to #music on #vinyl, reading #ComicBooks and writing on fancy paper with a #FountainPen (mostly #SpokenWord and #FreeVerse #poetry) are my hobbies. And I try to spend as much of my time with Toby, my #goldendoodle (#DogsOfMastodon) as I can.
