Huh? They did, already, back in Opposition, which afaik is why the despicable COALition govt then legislated them. Labs were craven cowards in Oppo, running away from fights with the COALs in sheer terror of being then subjected to public mocking & vilification, instead of standing their ground & mounting sound rhetorical justifications & factual counter-arguments [eg, they also caved in on numerous Defence & Cyber policies too, which is why we have the shitful mandatory data collection & retention laws, et al].
Ever since Rudd/Gillard etc waved white flags over gambling, mining, carbon taxes, Labs have run a mile from all subsequent policy differences with COALs, if they sense any potential electoral vulnerability. It's one more important reason the electorate should stop voting Labs, & instead vote #Greens & #ProgIndies 👍
@pja I respectfully but vehemently disagree. Radical systemic change is needed; so called "business as usual" is devastating our biosphere, extincting our remaining species, cooking the planet, condemning young & old to homeless penury, continuing to fund #FossilFools, continuing to perpetuate evil upon refugees & asylum seekers, etc.
Peeps who still can't [yet] stomach Greens, should at least always vote #ProgIndies, never Lieberals or Nuts, & sadly also not Labor, otherwise the craptitudinous status quo prevails.
