Red Hat certainly contributes greatly to Fedora in other ways, but direct maintenance of a specific package or set of packages is not a reliable indicator of Red Hat's overall investment. Fedora is going to be just fine.
I've been seeing lots of "the sky is falling" takes around Red Hat pulling out of LibreOffice RPM maintenance in Fedora. Here's a reality check: the vast majority of packages in Fedora are not maintained in an official capacity (i.e. part of their job) by Hatters. That's because only a small subset (~10%) of Fedora packages make it into RHEL. Currently RHEL 9 has 6,501 RPMs (from 2,393 SRPMs), while Fedora 38 has 60,807 RPMs (from 23,281 SRPMs).

I am not sure about the #fedora elimination but for #RHEL it is fine.
The Linux community used to complain about Ubuntu and its development around snapd. Well, Red Hat, in fact, does the same thing. The difference is that flatpak has a good reputation and is not slow. Although, the trend goes on. I can see something like "The Arch Way" of managing packages in the old-school manner as a movement within a decade! 😹

Does anybody know if it’s possible to get #redhat to mark a cve as disputed? Or even to downgrade it?
Specifically, CVE-2020-15779 which Qualsys has decided to mark as a critical vulnerability and some IT Security people who don’t know what they are doing insist need to be “fixed” even though Red Hat refuses to make changes to the package even for RHEL 8.

I miss the #RedHat of a decade ago that saw #community investment as a valuable asset to double down on and not as a paper liability.
I'm confident that #Fedora will continue to thrive in spite of the damage done by upper management at #RedHat and #IBM because it's the community that drives Fedora's innovation. Unfortunately, Red Hat doesn't seem to see that "value" as much as the rest of the Fedora community, based on their recent lay offs of key Fedora and open source community members.
I'm continually amazed by the #Fedora community, but admittedly having trouble processing a certain mistrust for #RedHat right now in light of recent layoffs and comments from #IBM's CEO about replacing people with AI. I'm legit angry about the harm done to Fedora and the #opensource world by some clearly out of touch suits and grieved by the human cost of those decisions on people who most certainly did not deserve it.

Reflecting on an argument I've had with a #RedHat evangelist about the positive/negative contributions of that company to FOSS, I think I can summarize my position very well.
The point of view that it's all about how much FOSS is created, and how viable the wider industry sees it is insufficient.
The only point of view that matters is how broadly the needs of the entire FOSS community are represented.
It's the people, stupid.

I didn't tell him I was going to do this, but I recently found out @quaid was impacted by the #RedHat layoffs. Karsten was a major part of my involvement in #Fedora, especially since I moved to California and was just getting started as a Fedora Ambassador back in 2009. Over the many years I've known him, I've got to see him thrive at bringing people into the #opensource world and fostering a sense of belonging and hospitality.

It seems the IBM induced layoffs that hit Red Hat have had an impact on OpenSource.doc. Quoting from the os.com mailing list:
