It turned out that she and her sisters had gotten parvo at the SF SPCA. So within two days of adoption, she was in the hospital, fighting parvo, which then turned into pneumonia induced by valley fever.
She's fine now, but it took a while.
Spay and neuter your dogs and make sure you vaccinate them.

I went for a drive, the camera used up almost all the battery, and I called it a night.
Doris (my car) refused to start.
One last call - my housemate at the time was awesome, she drove all the way out, used her AA card to call for actual help and a lovely man came out and took Doris to my local garage.
She now receives regular expensive servicing and I am a paid up AA member. I also never go driving without charging the phone.

Our cats recently broke the control knob on their 'microchip' cat flap. They pull it off & get out when they are supposed to be locked indoors.
This morning I phoned the company to order a replacement part, & it's FREE!
The new part should arrive tomorrow.
Not only that, the young person on the phone was knowledgeable enough to answer all my questions about a different model (which we are considering when the current catflap finally breaks).

Enjoyed a fun morning with my son and his family at the Carolina Tiger Rescue kids tour. They have a couple tigers rescued from the 'Tiger King' folks, along with many animals that were rescued from unscrupulous breeders or surrendered by individuals. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
We are finally seeing progress. Today, for the first time, Laurie dropped his prey when called, and came indoors for a treat.
He didn’t start hunting until recently, so we are hoping the novelty will wear off. Especially as treats & catnip toys are easier to come by.

Found this little red squiggle in an untenable mid-road position on my daily bike-ride.
Significant signs of concussion - a chunk of fur out on the rear near-side flank and eyes out of sync. The wee darling didn't want to climb up trees, just curl up and snore (loudly) with TLC on my hand.
It's currently recovering at the vettery. Hoping it might be released soon.

Spent the day at Dillon Stadium in Hartford working the concessions stands for our rescue. Slow day, considering it was "dollar hot dog day." But we still made about $2000 between our stipend and our tips.
$2000 buys a LOT of dog preventatives, or medical services. But on the other paw, it's only a fraction of the amount we sometimes need for an injured or neglected or beat up dog, or a mom and her puppies.
