For the second time in as many months a columnist at the FT (this time eade Hemingway; last time Simon Kuper) has suggested differential #retirement ages are more just, due to the disparities in life expectancy for different income/wealth segment of the population.
I think its a really interesting idea & certainly needs exploring; as Hemingway points out a single retirement age is pretty regressive when the #poor will likely die much sooner after retiring than the #rich!

Growing up, during the #Reagan, #Bush, and #Clinton presidencies, I was taught that we were living in an enlightened society.
We are actually living in a repeat of the excesses of the #GildedAge. The #poor are again suffering for the #rich.
This was exacerbated by Reagan and Bush with their #TrickleDownEconomics born from flawed reasoning. The rich will NEVER redistribute their wealth.

Yesterday when hearing about the rise of malicious #pypi packages on the #realpython podcast, I had an idea for a package I’m calling`pre-pip`.
It’s a way to run some custom #python code before a #pip command. This could potentially be used to check if a package is on a known list of bad packages before installing it or to automatically upgrade pip before a pip install.
Seems there are lots of possibilities here.
