Note that she managed to switch apps, select the crop function, crop the image, save it with a descriptive filename, crop it some more and open the save dialogue. All that without ANY human intervention!

Rubia, a tabby cat is lying comfortably across the keyboard of my laptop, eyes closed. On the laptop's screen a tiny cropped part of an image can be seen if one looks very closely.

If using slightly less drastic settings and running the output through some gentle noise reduction and a tiny bit of reverb the #RadioShack delay can actually sound quite sweet too!

Sorry about the mediocre playing - piano isn't exactly my forte.

A dirty mud brown resistor with red, violet, orange and silver bands is reld up above an inquisitive looking tabby cat. Its value should be 27kΩ with a 10% tolerance, but my multimeter says 33kΩ. To its credit the resistor is from around 1940, so well done little one!

Rubia, a tabby cat is sitting on a Rhodes Mk I electric piano, looking at the camera expectantly, yet slightly puzzled. The camera moves towards the piano and my right hand emerges to play a C minor major seventh chord, followed by a musically completely unrelated Em7 / A7 lick. A faint echo can be heard after the playing, as the Rhodes happens to be patched into a Yamaha analogue delay unit at the time. Rubia then walks a few steps to the right side of the piano, briefly looks at my hand with interest and then proceeds to ignore me.

I nearly bought an overpriced PCM5102 DAC on Amazon, as I wanted to experiment with a decent quality line out for my radio.

Then I remembered I still had a #Pimoroni PHAT DAC somewhere.

Thanks to @gadgetoid's brilliant https://pinout.xyz I had it hooked up to my Pico in no time, playing a modified #CircuitPython script by @todbot.

Here I'm switching between headphones plugged into the PCM5102 and a MAX98357 DAC hooked up to a speaker.

Rubia was not impressed! 🐈

I am uploading a CircuitPython script from Thonny on my laptop to a Raspberry Pi Pico, which is simultaneously connected to a PCM5102 and MAX98357 DAC, as well as a capacitive button. Once uploaded a remixed sample of DJ Zinc's Super Sharp Shooter can be heard coming out of the headphones (via the PCM5102). A tabby cat is sleeping on a cutting mat next to the headphones. I proceed to press the touch button, which switches the Pico's sound output to use the MAX98357 with its connected speaker. After switching the output back to the headphones the camera pans to the cat which has lifted her head and is looking like she is mildly annoyed by all that racket. NB: it was actually pretty quiet, which is why I had to crank up the video recording so much, so no kittens were harmed in the making....

I am taking a photo straight up at the corner of our balcony as a tabby cat is looking straight down at me through the metal railing. The sky is deep blue and parts of a palm tree and some ivy are creeping into the shot from the right. If you look very closely you can spot an upside-down 868 MHz LoRa antenna (which had fallen from its previously upright position) to the left of the cat...

When I just received #Pimoroni's Pico GFX Pack I just had to have a go at displaying @radiofreefedi@botsin.space's now playing metadata.

My initial inspiration came from @mikesheldon's RGB matrix version at https://octodon.social/@mikesheldon/109800654967812982 , and I heavily borrowed code from @blitzcitydiy's #MastodonAPI CircuitPython experiments at https://mastodon.social/@blitzcitydiy/109360738427088845 .

An ancient radio turned Bluetooth speaker, a tabby cat on a red pillow, a PC monitor, a laptop with USB volume control and a Pimoroni Pico GFX Pack connected to a power bank are spread out on a wooden desk in a room with 70s tiles. The cat seems to be asleep, while the radio is playing a bluesy guitar song. I plug the LED display into the power bank and focus the camera on its display, which lights up green and shows Wifi connection info. After a few seconds the display switches to show the current song's metadata: "radio free fedi now playing: #ihateeverything by 12AX7 used with permission" The camera pans to the monitor which shows the same metadata on radiofreefedi.net. The video then fast forwards to the next song, "kaleidoscopic by exodrifter" and once again shows the display and monitor with matching metadata. The whole procedure repeats one more time, with the only difference being that the cat has now opened one eye, but still seems rather comfortable. Song 3 is "Electric by THALREX"

Last weekend #RubiaTheCat helped me sort out olives, this week she has been on inspection duties to make sure I am doing a proper job cutting each one individually before submerging them in fresh water.

I am wearing gloves as the olive juices can stain skin for days.

Over the next few weeks the water needs changing daily to remove the olives' bitterness before they can be brined and jarred.

After nearly 3 months away, I'm finally reunited with #RubiaTheCat.

Today she's been overseeing my efforts at sorting out some of the olives we harvested over the last few days - the ones on the trailer are to be brined.

Today it was time to harvest the basil before it bolts in the upcoming heatwave.
