"Multiple #SNP politicians including Fergus Ewing, Kate Forbes and Joanna Cherry have said the Bute House Agreement should be reviewed or renegotiated, with Ewing branding the #Greens “hard-left extremists” that have “tarnished” his party"
Is Ewing sure that it isn't hard right extremists who are tarnishing his party? What is he even doing in the party?

Scotland can get independence quite rapidly if only they could convince half the adults that live there to take the plunge - the issue is not south of the border, it is with you lot
Is it reasonable to expect an #indyRef every 10 years in the absence of any convincing evidence most of you want it? I think not....
The departure of Sturgeon casts doubt on the durability of the SNP's electoral hegemony. A new special issue of Political Quarterly reflects on what has changed in Scottish politics and what the future holds.
Ben Jackson introduces key themes:
Face it (man?!?) you have no clothes on politics
poster-boy for centre-right snakes in the grass
another pile of shit in government....Starmer’s Labour
- and not ONE post in favour of any political viewpont point to the bankrupcy of your political views and the impotence of the far left you represent
No 10 daren’t admit it, but Ursula von der Leyen is right: we’ll be going back on #Brexit
Nor does #labour dare - it's way too early - if either major UK party suggests anything like this they'll haemorrhage votes
I suspect more likely a series of very small steps under the new administration progressively narrow the difference between being out & in
One to look forward to - freedom for musicians to work across Europe unhindered by bureaucracy
Michael Russell steps down as #SNP president
It will be interesting to see if he gets the #ScottishLandCommission job.

This “investigation” started in 2021, and the new Police Scotland (AKA Strathclyde Police Nationwide) Chief Constable refuses to answer any questions about it, including: why the fuck is it taking so long?
I think we know the answers.
Les #SNP ne sont plus l'objectif principal mais la relation de qualité du patient avec son médecin traitant... Qualité fait baisser la quantité. (la salle dubitative applaudit néanmoins ce revirement)
Well if you actually had a demonstrable 50% of scot voting for pro-indy parties you might have a point.... but you don't so you don't really
I’m interested in the despair in this, argued by Mike Small of @BellaCaledonia. I’m probably not an average voter (whatever that is), but in speaking with people, I sense no great desire from anyone to vote for #Labour, and I wonder if, when it comes down to it at a general election, that 50% of people who broadly want independence, will just suck it up and vote #SNP anyway. The biggest gains for Labour might therefore come from #Tories and #LibDems, not the pro-#independence parties. Perhaps the SNP will lose votes because people won’t bother to vote (“they haven’t earned it”), and that will cost them seats, but I don’t think Labour’s messaging appeals much to many people I encounter. https://bellacaledonia.org.uk/2023/11/27/the-banality-of-scottish-politics/
An audience with a national leader can be indicative of priorities and potential for influence—as can its absence, finds @DrHannahGraham as she analyses Nicola Sturgeon's ministerial diaries.
Humza Yousaf says he has written to Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak to call for the International Criminal Court to investigate whether war crimes are being committed. Venezuela, South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros and Djibouti have all passed along referrals to ICC already. In addition, South Africa has been urging the ICC to issue arrest warrants immediately, one for Netanyahu in particular.
MSPs to back Israel-Gaza ceasefire in Holyrood vote
Labour and the #SNP are backing the call, but the parties have clashed over a proposed amendment.
Not as uncomfortable as this polling trend is for the #snp
Yeah.... So unfair making #Starmer look crap and out-of-touch with voters /s
At least 7 #Labour frontbenchers who have publicly supported the idea of a ceasefire did not vote for the SNP amendment and kept their roles.
Rushanara Ali, shadow business minister, said she would have resigned if it "meant the needle would move in the slightest over forcing a ceasefire"
"Michael Matheson says sons used iPad data to watch football"
Well, that wraps it up for Scottish independence.
Lock 'em all up!??!
@DavidPenington The full text of the #SNP ammendment, which I will post in full below, included "unequivocally condemn the horrific killings by Hamas and the taking of hostages; reaffirm that there must be an end to the collective punishment of the Palestinian people; call for the urgent release of all hostages" – so it was, absolutely and unequivocally, the motion you asked for.
#1 of 3
Something that the WM vote against the SNP amendment on the Israel / Gaza crisis has shown me: where the Tories are already doing their best to destroy lives - and by that I mean of their own country people and those in most need - given an election where Labour wins, they will follow exactly the same policy.
The Red of Labour is merely a different shade of the Blue of Conservatives.
"A Labour motion calling for humanitarian pauses in the Israel-Hamas war has been defeated in the Commons, with frontbenchers resigning to vote for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak has said he will press on with the Rwanda policy after the Supreme Court ruled it was unlawful."
Will #SNP motion highlight division in Labour Party?
The SNP are expected to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, while Labour MPs are being told not to vote.
I've written to my (#Tory) MP, in advance of the #SNP's motion tomorrow on #CeasefireForGaza. It will probably do no good, but nevertheless I urge everyone to do the same. We need to do everything we can to #StopTheWar in #Palestine
Rally at the Houses of Parliament Wednesday for the SNP King's Speech amendment, tell MPs to vote for it. There's also a form you can use to write to them here, takes 2 minutes tops:
Wednesday 15th November 5PM
The Scottish government has developed financial strategies, provides support & grants millions in public money, all of which go directly towards arms manufacture in Scotland.
And they don't.
"The First Minister added: “I am beyond angry at the Home Secretary and the UK Government who seem to want to drive every issue into a culture war. Describing those marches as hate marches is disgraceful, unacceptable."
Westminster's gearing up to ban the demos, aren't they. Also, the National Front are allowed to walk by the Cenotaph every year (pic related) on Armistice Day. A truly hateful march is allowed but a peace march isn't?
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @Hope4All There isn't a chance of this. The #SNP are going into the 2024 general election with a repeat of the same strategy which has failed at the last two Westminster elections, and (deservedly) less popularity. They are no longer a vehicle which can deliver #ScottishIndependence.
Neither of course are #ALBA; but given that, we need to face the fact that there is no democratic route to independence within the next two decades.
@waldoj @pavo Privacy is a pre 80s myth. You should just post your #23andMe #snp Profile, genome and vcf file from #VeritasGenomics and leave it for others to play with on a server somewhere. I've given mine to a dozen doctors and not one of them has given a flying fuck about it--and it hasn't helped with my health. I'm convinced that #SyntheticBiology and making the leap from analog DNA to digital DNA is one of the filters in the #DrakeEquation. If you make the leap, you become immortal.
Not entirely surprising that Ash Regan would go to Alba, but it's a bit odd to stand to lead a party and then defect to another! Edinburgh Eastern constituency now stuck with an Alba MSP until the next Scottish parliamentary election though, even though they voted for the #SNP.
🆕 ‘Labour's own fiscal rules have ruled out progressive spending resulting in a policy loop doomed to fail. The SNP's recent policy announcements can only be described as mildly better but still leaves a lot to be desired’. Do the people of Scotland find themselves trapped?
“The UK Labour leader provides guarded semi-promises of change in years ahead. Scotland provides a real-world alternative to Westminster’s welfare cruelty, right here, right now.”
Let’s not forget that, in Westminster and Holyrood elections.
In this new article in The Political Quarterly, I analyse how Nicola Sturgeon spent her time as First Minister of Scotland.
To whom and what did she give her time as FM — which issues and interest groups had access and proximity? Which didn't?
I went through two years of Ministerial diaries, cross-referenced with the Lobbying Register and FOI publications, to find out.
#Starmer is capitalising on reduced polls numbers in favour of independence by offering Scotland greater autonomy within a stronger union.
The result of the next election will be very revealing... 🏴
Nicola Sturgeon passes driving test first time aged 53
The former first minister said she had been taking lessons after stepping down as leader of the #SNP.
I doubt it would actually happen, but if the swing in the Mid Bedfordshire By-Election was repeated across the UK Labour would have a 310 seat majority, the Lib Dems would be the main opposition, and the Tories would be left with twenty seats
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious It's a constant conundrum, and not one with a good option. Vote #SNP to keep the Westminster parties and the actual right wing fringe Indy parties out, or don't vote SNP because they've let us down SO badly SO many times on SO many things.
When the Greens sold out for the 30 pieces of silver that was a seat at the table, making them unable to oppose the SNPs reckless attitudes to the natural world, I realised there was no-one left to vote *for* in Scotland. Only against.
MP Lisa Cameron rejects calls for a by-election
She tells BBC News she regrets not leaving the #SNP sooner and repeats her claims of a "toxic" culture.
Can the #SNP's independence plan change the union's future?
Humza Yousaf sought to temper expectations of hungry SNP members at the party's annual conference.
Scottish independence: How did we get here and what happens next?
The #SNP are devising a new strategy as members gather in Aberdeen for the party's annual conference.
#SNP conference to begin with independence debate in Aberdeen
Party leaders have proposed using the next general election as a de facto independence referendum.
MP Dr Lisa Cameron who defected to Tories 'forced into hiding'
Former #SNP MP Dr Lisa Cameron says she has received threatening messages since switching party.
The SNP has also faced criticism from within its own ranks and is the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
But Mr Yousaf said support for independence remained high
MP Lisa Cameron defected to Tories in tantrum, says #SNP president
Lisa Cameron MP defected from the SNP to the Conservatives amid claims of toxicity in the party.
"SNP MP Dr Lisa Cameron quits party and joins Conservatives"
Maybe I should go back to bed. This day makes no sense, and should be written off.
