It was obvious that #Covid was disproportionately affecting people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds “at an early stage” of the pandemic, mayor of #London Sadiq Khan has said.
Giving evidence at the UK Covid inquiry, Khan said the disparity was “clear from a number of metrics”.

Police say faked audio purporting to capture the Mayor of London calling for Armistice Day to be re-scheduled for a pro-Palestinian march “does not constitute a criminal offence”. Sadiq Khan’s office said false material was being “circulated and amplified by a far-right group”. A Met spokesperson said specialist officers had reviewed the content. They described it as “artificial audio” that had been brought to the attention of the force. Security minister Tom Tugendhat said he was aware of the fake and called for people not to “repost or amplify it”.

Questionable relationships between #ukpoliticalparties and #hindutva were around even before the #brexitreferendum in June 2016. Much of the #conservative campaign for the #london #mayor and #assembly relied on stirring up #antimuslim feeling among #hindu communities by implying that #SadiqKhan would literally strip gold ornaments off their womenfolk. And this particular campaign was in the first half of 2016! It did not pay off then but they have persevered with it since!

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan can press on with a controversial expansion of the ultra low emissions zone (ULEZ) which penalises high-polluting vehicles in the capital, a High Court judge ruled.
Five Conservative councils brought a legal challenge against the Labour mayor's plan. But the judicial review was dismissed Friday morning, meaning the scheme can now be extended to outer London areas, as planned, on 29 August.
