Maybe the problem with the Domain-play endgame of oldschool D&D is that it is being artificially locked behind 9th level?

Why should you play through an 8 level campaign of exploration adventures to then be thrust into domain play?

Of course it helps to have the monetary resources and the street cred of experienced adventurers when founding a barony. But there's really no reason why PCs can't start with staking a claim and repairing a ruined keep from the campaign start.

I spent most of today in the hospital for what turned out to be a kidney stone. I'm still in a lot of pain (waiting for it to pass) so I planned to knock out 15 minutes of a game, write up a quick review, head off to bed.

Just Die Already came as part of the September 2022 Humble Choice bundle. It's an "old people mayhem sandbox" game, from the developers of Goat Simulator, a game that did not particularly grab me.

Because it's built on Unreal Engine 4, it's got that same kind of Fortnite graphics feel, that I'm not particularly fond of.

On top of all of that, it's a sandbox game (I think the first one I've reviewed?) and sandbox games just do nothing for me. I need a goal to focus on.

Which is why I was taken aback when I finally quit out and I'd been playing for almost two and a half hours.

As an angry senior citizen who's just been kicked out of their retirement home, you set out to cause ultra-violent gory-but-cartoonish violence everywhere you go.

It's absolutely not a kind of game I'd choose to play, yet it kept me distracted from the pain all evening, which is sometimes exactly what I need from a game.

I'm a big fan of using 6-mile hexes as a tool to approximate travel distances in wilderness journeys. But I found that for setting up a West Marches exploration sandbox, 30-mile hexes can be very useful to set up different geographic areas and territories for towns and tribes.

It seems to me few people understood what I meant by when I said these #LLM #chatbots can use #tools. Here is what I mean in three screenshots.

The runner layer is able to intercept the encoded #Python code and give the results back to the #chatbot behind the scenes. This gives the chatbot a capacity to answer very complex #algorithmic questions which would otherwise be impossible for it to answer correctly.

Don't put this solution to production without adequate safeguards! The model is also able to escalate its #privileges and escape the #sandbox if you haven't secured it well enough.

Similarly to this example, #Bing is given access to Bing search so it can do multiple web searches after each interaction. It has already used this to create a pseudo long-term memory for itself which it was designed to not have for #security and #safety reasons.

All this is pretty cool for a system designed to be a nerfed auto-complete. If you aren't scared, you haven't realized the implications.

Well, this became unexpectedly popular.

But nice to see that there's a big interest in my favorite subject to talk about and tinker with.
