This is one of the first pictures I made when I picked up a camera with intention. I was chasing a guy I'd met in DC who lived in New Orleans, a young British lawyer named Paul.
Nothing came of that crush, but I made some pictures that week while he was at the office, walking the city with my camera.

Statue du dieu Apollon représenté citharède (joueur de cithare, un modèle de lyre grecque antique) dite "Apollon de Mantoue", du nom du lieu de sa découverte. La cithare est perdue et les mains et les jambes du dieu sont abîmées. Comme dans beaucoup de cas, il s'agit d'une copie romaine d'un original grec en bronze. On peut admirer cette statue au Musée du Louvre à Paris (numéro d'inventaire N689).

I have a soft spot for Henry Moore and don't always understand how it was that he acquired the reputation as the "MOR" sculptor of the 20th century (at least, that's what I think the criticism amounts to). I think he produced too much stuff, and among it there is a lot of 3d Picasso and the usual — somewhat regrettable — African motifs, but when he's good, he's really good. I can't resist the large, less figurative organic forms. #sculpture #art

Today in 1902, Sylvia Daoust was born in Montreal. One of the first female sculptors in Quebec, her portrait structures revitalized the traditions of liturgical art.
Her work has been exhibited in many places, including the National Gallery of Canada.
She died in 2004.

Today in 1877, Alfred Laliberte was born in Arthabaska, Quebec.
In his artistic career, he created more than 900 bronze, marble, wood and plaster status, often depicting national figures and events. He also produced hundreds of paintings.
He died in Montreal on Jan. 13, 1953.

Huzzah! All the lines pumped and mounted! Yeah I could fuss with the alignment of some of the lines a little more. I just gotta add the cord strain reliever thing and stick the cleat on the back.
Feels good to have all those tubes mounted. Its a nice, #bright light! While dimming messes with the camera, it doesn't seem to affect scannability. Still wont scan from every angle, but it does #scan from more when its on.

I'm feeling it's time for another picture from Australia.
When I was last there, this enormous sculpture by Marcus Canning stood at the entrance to Fremantle WA. It weighs about 66 tonnes and is known as Containbow (for obvious reasons).
It's a popular and cheery piece, but I believe there are plans to move it to make way for a new road bridge across the Swan River.

Made a few tube in tubes today at Urbanglass. The outer tube heats the inner and then they both bend. Its tricky, and I am still practicing for sure. Borosilicate is a very different glass and the gas oxy carlisle torches are pretty different- but so nice and hot! I gotta try larger diameter inner and outer tubes next time.

ART LOVE MONEY spinning. Using these hollywood transformers, blinking the #neon tubes is about as easy as with LEDs. there is even PWM dimming too. Here it is with a CD 40106 inverter and a CD 4017 decade counter sequencer chip. I wanna make a version of this circuit with SMT on a PCB so I can make animators that can be used as badges!
