Photo of a craft project. An old shortbread mold that had a design of embossed hearts. The embossed hearts design would have appeared as raised dough on the top of the shortbread pieces. The mold has 6 slices, each with a large heart centered, and with six smaller hearts beneath in a row.

The original person who cast the mold in clay made an error, however, and the partitions are not evenly spaced. One wedge is narrower than the others and only has 5 small hearts, and the adjoining larger wedge has 7 small hearts instead of six. I decided to continue the rainbow pattern as if everything was fine, lol. The extra small heart starts again with red, and the narrower wedge picks up with orange.

It used to have a hanger (and there is a slight imperfection in the rim, unseen, where the loop broke off when it fell). I posted a picture previously of the plain black basecoat.

The color paint is done in a sort of "russian egg" style. I'm sure it has a name, but I don't know what it is. I have some of those 80s style decorative plates that you used to get one at a time by subscription. The series was about Russian Fairy Tales, and they are black background, gold embossed illustrations, similar in style to how this mold ended up.

Each large embossed heart is a different color of the rainbow, too, moving left to right, like Hebrew writing. That's widdershins if you're concerned about that sort of thing.

I have used gold an silver highlighting throughout, for effect.

Here's my first test of a shadowbox idea.

I am pleased with this first one. I don't know why I chose this background image in particular. I printed out several and this one just wanted to go first, lol.

I'm on the lookout for cool out of copyright background images. I am also cropping and editing some of the old womble AI stuff.

Shadow box idea first test - I painted the outside edges in a plain light green to coordinate with the greenery in the background image I selected.

The top and both sides of the box are adorned with a floral vine in pink, yellow, green and gold to coordinate with the paperboard image.

The box is roughly 6" tall and 9" long, give or take. Since these are big box store items, they will probably be from various manufacturers and differ somewhat in overall dimensions.

The background images will be printed on stiff paperboard with the corners cut to fit the paper inset into the box.

I am collecting scans and graphics for background images from out of copyright works, and some editing and cleanup has generally been involved, too.

I used decoupage glue to adhere the paperboard to the inside of the box.

This is an image of the finished box, with the paperboard adhered and the exterior adorned with decorative ribbon and dots.

The image is an excerpt from one of the Rubbiyat scans. It depicts a crowned golden goddess bending down with a garland of green leaves and bright pink flowers toward an apparently winged angel or being.

In order to make the image for this test large enough to fit nicely into the box and print large enough to fill the interior, I had to mirror image it, which created the effect of two angels nodding toward each other, with the two faces of the goddess laying wreaths on each of their shoulders. The predominant colors are gold tones, yellow, and very light green.

At the place where the mirror images meet, the design of the background created a downward pointing V shape, between the two faces of the goddess. Here I decided to hand an ornament, a gold ball wrapped in black wire on a short chain. (This ornament was poached from an old broken wind chime we had in our garden.) At the bottom of the ornament I hung a bright pink heart from the wire wrapping, to complete the color scheme and indicate Fortune is not just about money, but happiness as well. (You can be very rich, and still very unhappy, you know.)

Hanging up the ornament in the box was a bear, let me tell you. I got some very tiny screw in golden eye hooks which are almost too small to handle. I ended up having to tap in a starter hole with a hammer and a brad, since even a nail seemed too big. I inserted a nail through the eye to spin the hook once it got started, very carefully, so as not to hit the paper.

To go inside the shadow box I will offer various options, one of which is a 3D Divine Feminine (Shekinah) figurine painted white on the Tree of Life side and in coordinating colors with whatever the box image will be, with the name of the prayer, Fortune in this case, in English one one side and Hebrew on the other.

It's too bad you can only attach four images, so I can show you the back, but it's very pretty, too. The back is the spiral universe design in the the same colors, with a black background.

The wheel of fortune goes up and down, but we pray that the downs are beautiful too, and help us to grow as a person.

There is also ample room in the box to put small icons, memorabilia, or other items representing the areas in which you are hoping your prayers for good fortune will be manifested.

For people who don't want a Divine Feminine Figurine, I have the small animal molds, an owl, a cat, or a hatching baby dragon, or...

I found a very cool mold that has six popular cards of the major arcana as a thin card-like design. I have backed this first one in fabric with glue to help it stay stable. They seem very thin to me.

The six cards in the mold are:
Fortune
The Lovers
The Sun
The Moon
The Stars
and The World

And they will, of course, be painted to coordinate with the background image. This first test seems to indicate that there will be some imperfections in decanting the plaster, so like the stele figures and the 3d figure, there will be some variations. Think of them more as archaeological finds rather than machine made figures. Each one will be unique.

This weekend I finished up my next test design - Lady Wisdom! Strategy is her forte, and numerous arts & crafts. She was present at creation, says Psalms, and is traditionally depicted with an owl & the spear of truth.
