So, because it's #simple and #easy I put up an #OCFD last night, at 34%/66%.
The only band (from 80 to 10) that is difficult is 20m. My favorite band, even.
RF is making it back into the shack, even through a coax-choke I wound at the entrance to the house is in place. It's also less efficient than the dedicated dipole for 20m was.
The trade-off seems to be better performance on all the WARC bands, and 40&80m both are less noisy, and seem to work better.
My initial thought was to cut a 20m dipole and put it up on the roof.. but that seems silly when the OCFD should be able to work on 20m natively.
Another oddity - the NanoVNA shows SWR below 3.0:1 on every band, but the tuner takes quite some time to tune each band - as if either the NanoVNA is wrong, or the tuner needs work.
I'm babbling here, mostly because this is how I think through perplexing problems.
Possible solutions:
-Add some length of ladderline to the feedpoint, and move the 4:1 balun to feed that ladderline. This will, of course, unbalance the ladderline, causing it to radiate, and possibly making the RF issue even worse.
- Get or build a much heftier 1:1 choke balun.
- put up with the lack of 20m for a time - until I can put up something else which can do the job.

Ah. I found the #Simple #Theme for #Obsidian! And yes, it’s very simple — and just what I was looking for. Under Simple, my notes are information rich, but quiet and orderly. When my palm brushes the keypad on my iMac, the text does not zoom up or down crazily in size. The Properties section at the top of each note collapses beautifully.

Wow! From #Simple by #DianaHenry, a Black bean and avocado salad with lots of lime and chilli, sour cream, feta, coriander. The beans are cooked with onions, red capsicum and garlic. Then the rest is layered on top of it with plenty of evo and lime juice.
Di makes it as a toast, a kind of super avo on toast recipe, with the beans and accoutrements on top. I took all the ingredients and the method and make it into a warm layered salad.
Very punchy in flavour, and a definite new favourite.

The very first #programming language I learned was Motorola 6800 instruction set. I was a kid who knew nothing about #computing and the Heathkit ET-3400A trainer was the only thing available to me, then. I learned basic electronics, driving 7-segment LEDs, I/O interfacing, etc., all from books. And there were some truly excellent books for novices, back then. I expanded the system memory from 256 bytes all the way up to 512 bytes.
Oh, how I loved that thing. I credit the Heathkit microcomputer and the superheterodyne radio for my becoming an #EE, years later.
As "useless" as this thing was at a practical level, it truly was a marvellous educator. But today's kids do not have access to such a naked, introductory computing hardware that dares to bare it all. The simplest hardware available today are ESP32, BBC micro:bit, and Raspberry Pi. #Simple, are they? No!

Although my #birthday was yesterday, I received two very pleasant #surprises this morning.
(1) Took car to the shop to get a screw in a #tire removed and #patch. Assumed it’d be a couple hours and planned accordingly. It didn’t take long for a worker to put it on a lift that I thought was only to evaluate what was needed. Apparently was #simple and they patched it #immediately. Total time in shop: roughly 30 minutes! (cont.)

This is literally what happened today! When I woke up. I headed to the living room. Next to it was the balcony. I saw three birds hanging out and making some bird noises. Staying here for like two hours then they all went flying together somewhere. A paper of 10 pages of content.
The paper is very pleasant and simple to read. Managing to catch our attention and make us read it in one sitting with a child-like excitement and joy. So if you have tendencies to leave things half-done, do not fear, you will get drawn into finishing it without having to fight a moment of boringness.

Getting away from #BigTech companies in order to protect my own #privacy has been very difficult. Over the last year I have completed the process many have termed "deGoogling" your life on r/privacy.
It was definitely I massive challenge, first starting with my #email and #cloudstorage providers and slowly move over all of my apps to #opensource and #privacy respecting alternatives.
But one thing that I have noticed, is that these #opensource alternatives are often quite extensive when it comes to features which can make them overly complicated for people that just want their privacy back but keep it simple.

I’ve found a YouTube channel I am really enjoying. It’s about a man who is #homesteading land in the Italian Alps. He lives alone & works with his tools to refurbish 2 old stone cabins. For the last ten years since my mother passed, I’ve been saying I’ll make a trifle in the bowl she always used at #christmas. The thing is I’m not a big fan of trifle. IMHO (TL;DR) We need to see a way for many users to easily #selfhost in with things like #yunohost et al. We need to document as much as possible and keep it #simple . #clever programming is as sure to kill the #fediverse as anything. Help document setup, maintenance/tuning, and disaster recovery. We need to #educate and many in tech aren't doing that so much.
