#Slovakia's parliament confirmed Prime Minister Robert #Fico's government on Tuesday, backing a policy agenda that promises to halt state military aid to #Ukraine, slowly reduce budget deficits and impose a new bank tax.
The programme also incorporated Fico's campaign pledge to halt Slovakia's official military aid to Ukraine as its neighbour battles #Russia's invasion and to seek a cessation of hostilities, while recognising Ukraine's international borders.
Slovakian truckers started to block the movement of trucks through the Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint between Slovakia and Ukraine.
It was initiated and conducted by the Association of Carriers of Slovakia. They demand the implementation of transportation permits for Ukrainian vehicles since European companies cannot compete with them – this is the same demand the protesters on the Polish-Ukrainian border have.

During the election campaign he promised to end all military aid to #Ukraine and criticised sanctions against #Moscow - now leads a coalition of his SMER party, the centre- left HLAS, and far- right pro- #Russian nationalists. Mr #Fico had to resign as Prime Minister in 2018 after the murder of a journalist investigating corruption linked to the government.
