The one thing about my #SmartHome I've been missing the most during these two weeks of vacation is the lights turning on and off automatically.
I have them set up so that they turn on when I'm home and a) the sun is getting low enough astronomically speaking or b) the power generation of our solar panels falls under a certain threshold. Being greeted by the lights turning on automatically earlier felt nice.
And then everything turns off automatically when I put my phone on the wireless charger by my bed, so that I don't have to do that "one last act" of turning the lights off, and I have a very obvious confirmation that my phone's charging.

Ein intelligentes Messsystem (iMSys) besteht aus einer modernen Messeinrichtung (nicht mehr die schwarzen drehenden Dinger), die um ein zusätzliches Gateway ergänzt wird, welches per Mobilfunk / LAN Daten zum EVU oder VNB sendet. Das kostet locker flockig mich bei <2000kWh Verbrauch und mehr als 15kWp Erzeugungsleistung um die 160€ im Jahr lt. Preisblatt des VNB, obwohl ich gehört habe das 100€ die Obergrenze sein soll?! ... soviel abgeregelt werde ich nicht, die #iMSys sind soweit ich weiß nicht lokal per API o.ä. abfragbar für #smarthome und co (und nein ich meine nicht die optischen Ausleseköpfe für die moderne Messeinrichtung, sondern das #gateway direkt)

I got a dozen Zigbee bulbs at a bargain and am starting to replace the worse Wi-Fi bulbs with them. So far, setting up a random bulb with an existing hub has been a super painless experience. I think I’d have been a huge Zigbee proponent if I’d tried this years ago—now Matter seems to be the thing to support, but maybe Zigbee devices with a Matter-compatible bridge is still a decent way to go.
Why did the industry not broadly settle on Zigbee like they are with Matter?

I'm no security researcher, but my intuition has always told me that #SmartHome devices shouldn't have direct access to the network. Therefore, I've gone out of my way to avoid #WiFi based devices in favor of #ZWave or #Zigbee whenever possible, working under the assumption that an attacker would first need to #pwn my #Hubitat before they could access any of my actual #HomeAutomation devices. In your expert opinion, is my intuition on this subject more or less accurate?

Hach ja, ich liebe #PhilipsHue… Wollte gerade alle Lampen in #HomeAssistant kriegen und bei der ersten klappt es super. Und dann? Nope. Die Lampe geht nicht in den Pairing Mode. Es gibt offenbar eine Möglichkeit eine Hue-Lampe in den Paring Mode zu versetzen, aber die Funktioniert nur so etwa 2-5% aller Fälle, weil die Timing exakt sein müssen. Wer denkt sich sowas überhaupt aus (Siehe Screenshot).
Conveniently kann man auch weitere Hardware von Philips kaufen, um Lampen zurückzusetzen. Ist doch super oder? 🤪 Ich weiß schon, warum ich von diesem ganzen Mist weg will und alles nur noch in Home Assistant haben möchte. #SmartHome

I have a ton of Wi-Fi A19 RGB smart light bulbs that work fine, mostly from two or three different brands. I’m considering upgrading to Matter light bulbs, as I am tired of the latency with so many devices on Wi-Fi and want everything to be the same.

Today's #SmartHome success is that I managed to display the state of four different entities on one single button of my #StreamDeck.
I'm using a #HomeAssistant integration that keeps track when what trash is being picked up, and it has four different sensors. I've been wanting to show which of them's active (being picked up the next day) on my streamdeck for a while, so that I don't forget about it.
Today I've been creating some updated icons for some other buttons, and it finally clicked that I could use HomeAssistant's "Generic Camera" integration to create an "ip camera" that serves one of 16 static images, for each combination of the four different sensors!
Now I can use the Streamdeck Plugin "API Ninja" to show the image of that "camera" directly on my streamdeck.

Powered by a single LiFePO4 battery.
The ESP lies in deep sleep until one of the two Reed switches is triggered. Message is sent through MQTT to my home assistant.
