I had time in between classes today for a quick walk around a pond in our neighborhood at lunch. Did not disappoint. #Snoqualmie

A big bullfrog with its head poking out of a plant-laden pond. Bright green stripes on its head and big green eyes on a darker green body. The back half of the frog is submerged but shows part of its spotted dark green/brown and light green striped back.
A full-grown adult Great Blue Heron standing in the brightly sunlit grassy marsh shore of a pond with its tail to the right and its head pointed looking out to the left. The body is great with white on the top of the long neck and underside of its head. There are black stripes on the top of its head and a yellow bill. The still water of the pond reflects the conifers behind and there are cattail plants in the foreground out of focus.

So I went to sleep a bit early, got up a bit early so I wouldn't be rushed today, and was treated to a very nice view just before sunrise on a quiet and peaceful walk around the neighborhood. Also got to see just my 2nd bunny of the spring. #Snoqualmie #NorthBendWA #Sunrise

Just before sunrise, a deep orange glow behind the Cascade foothills in Washington, with the peak of q'əlpc' (Mt. Si) to the right. The mountains are backlit and shades of blue-grey. Green conifers in the foreground are mostly in shadow, and the sky is a mix of blu, and orange and salmon streaked thin, high clouds.
A small bunny in the grass and brush. A short bobbed tail behind and relatively short ears for a bunny. Dark Brown fur on the body with a speckled pattern of lighter brown and mostly deep brown fur on the legs. Watching me cautiously with big dark eyes.

Say it with us: “Snoqualmie National Forest.” Sounds weird, looks awesome!

Went up to #Snoqualmie for the last snowboarding session of the season this morning... I don't think I've had a rainier, foggier day on the slopes.

Still had a blast, since I was with my best friend from high school and we hadn't snowboarded together in over a decade!

@mancalledamp Hi, I’m based in #Bellevue, but also have #Kirkland #Medina #Issaquah #NorthBend #Snoqualmie related posts. Many times I just mention #Seattle area to my international followers bc they can place it on a map and bc there’re hardly any posts of the other places…

I live in a magical place. q'əlbc #mtsi #Snoqualmie

Q'əlbc (called Mt. Si by colonizers on the Snoqualmie land) with bits of snow clinging to the peaks and sides. Long shadows in the late afternoon sun and a few large, puffy clouds in the otherwise blue sky.

Wife and I took a little train ride today. Short excursion route, but 2 hours of a good time. Train locked up it's brakes once because a car jumped the crossing trying to beat the train. #snoqualmie #NorthwestRailwayMuseum

In the summer of 2019, I visited Washington (near and in Seattle) and San Francisco with my sister and her boyfriend. During our trip to Washington, we took a quick visit to Snoqualmie to see the waterfalls there, which I'm told were in the series Twin Peaks (I've never watched it).

At the site of the Snoqualmie Falls, were some old pieces of a big water pipe, which I snapped this photo of, framing my sister.

#Photography #Waterpipe #Washington #Snoqualmie #SnoqualmieFalls #TwinPeaks

Photo of a bunch of very big round metal rings, from an old pipes, standing in a row with a bit of one side buried in the dirt below. To the sides and in the background is a bunch of vegetation, like trees, grass, and bushes. Looking through the metal rings you can see a girl/woman standing a bit further down the earth path, being framed in the middle of the metal rings/cylinder.
In the background, among the trees on a hill, is two very large and greyish-black pipes, going up/down the hill.

The gap wind event in the #Snoqualmie valley isn't supposed to get going really until later this afternoon but in the last 30 minutes or so it's noticeably picked up. Multiple gusts in the high 20s. Hoping the lights stay on tonight. https://bit.ly/WindAdvisory1_4_23

Power out in #Snoqualmie now. Some are handling it better than others. #wawx #CatsOfMastodon #catsdon

My cat, by candlelight in the power outage.

I'm the dad to an an adult son with #autism. He has had a lifelong interest in steam #trains and #railHistory and model railroading since he was a child. Celebrating that interest has been a great way to connect with him, and we both look forward to these adventures.
Over the years his interests have taken us to fascinating places, too numerous to mention here. But our latest journey last Sept took us to #Seattle on #Amtrak, then to the #Snoqualmie historic railway. It was a great time.
Every person you know with autism has a superpower. Find out what it is, and connect thru it. You'll learn interesting things and have a friend for life.

Went for an early morning walk in the fresh snow to get some sunrise q'əlpc' views. #Snoqualmie #NorthBend #MtSi

Another view of q'əlpc' with the sun closer to breaching the morning horizon. The overall tone is bluer with light blue sky, grey clouds, and yellow & amber light where the sun is about to rise. The view is wider with more sky and a wider shot of the mountains showing.
One more shot of the mountain with some evergreens obscuring much of the mountain in the foreground. The sky is more amber as the sun is just starting to rise behind Rattlesnake Ridge to the right of q'əlpc'.
Q'əlpc', renamed Mt. Si by colonizers, in the early morning pre-dawn light. Dark evergreens in the front (their snow removed by strong overnight gap winds) with the mountain mostly covered in snow in the background. The sky is dark grey with pink & crimson highlights from the coming dawn.
