Every Year Snow geese migrate to the Skagit Valley from late fall to early Spring. The flocks are huge and quite impressive when they take off and land. This image is from a large flock taking off after a bald eagle started circling above.

Snow Geese from last weekend. #Birds #BirdWatching #SnowGeese

Snow geese, white with black wing tips, take flight in the foreground while a linear group look on in the background. They're in an area with some tall grass and the sky is blue gray.

The snow geese are migrating north heralding the arrival of spring. Their flocks are a sight to behold - sometimes they literally stretch for miles from horizon to horizon.

Part of a migrating flock of snow geese against an intensely blue sky and a few feathery clouds. With that many birds, the typical V-fornation grows into long branched lines. Both snow (white with black wingtips) and blue (dark) phases of snow geese are flying side by side.

Bird query. Are you seeing Snow Geese heading over now where you live? In going over past bird photos...I see the Snow Geese were heading over now on their yearly movement. This year...nothing. Could it be the weather??? Snow geese movement this year has been way down. [To clarify: I have been at the same exact location in SE Colorado for 11 migratory seasons]

Snow geese coming in for a landing across the river. You can tell from the audio that it was very windy out. #Geese #Birds #SnowGeese #Flight #BirdsOfMastodon #Nature

This is a great article, "Washington's Runaway Snow Geese".

I live near the Stillaguamish river, and it is spectacular to see thousands of geese fly over head, and honk away in the river valley, but the story is complex.

There are also Trumpeter swans (although not as numerous). They really do sound like a trumpet (although not always skillfully played).

Thousands of snow geese in a marshy field, with many of them flying. The geese are primarily white, with contrasting black beaks. The geese are large, up to 10 kg.
