In this future, people are citizens, rather than subjects or consumers. With this identity, it becomes easier to see that all of us are smarter than any of us. And that the strategy for navigating difficult times is to tap into the diverse ideas, energy and resources of everyone.

"Even after brothels were banned in metropolitan France in 1946, French military authorities illegally brought hundreds of Moroccan women to France to work in ‘Bordels militaires de campagne’ because of the Moroccan soldiers still present in the metropole. With poor living conditions, underage labour and a high workload, French military brothels exploited Moroccan women to theoretically ‘protect’ European women against sexual violence from Moroccan men."

HOW TO START A CULT

If you search for this phrase or "how to start a religion" in Google, 670 million results are shown in the first case and more than 3 billion in the second case. On Amazon there are several books with these or similar titles such as (surprisingly) "How to Build a God in Your Garage". Some websites (with more or less seriousness) try to explain step by step how to create your sect or community of beliefs.

Por ejemplo, el artículo de Claire J. Harris "How to Start a Cult in 5 Easy Steps. You can totally do this at home": https://medium.com/swlh/how-to-start-a-cult-in-5-easy-steps-22beab4d7be5

Or the text by Stephen Mason: "How to Start a Cult. Become a god by starting your very own religion". https://www.psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/look-it-way/200906/how-start-cult

Each text on this subject has its own approach: ironic, search for economic success, creation of a community, personal empowerment, etc.

What conclusions can be drawn from all this?

Britons don’t think the Autumn Statement will make much difference. The statement, as a whole, Britons see it as fair (38%) rather than not fair (23%). They are divided 31-29% on whether or not it is affordable. The general view is that it won’t make much different to the country (48%) or respondents’ own household finances (55%). This perception is shared equally by Conservative and Labour voters. (Source: YouGov) #money #economics #banking #UKnews #sociology #demography

Society can be understood as something that only exists as long as actions are performed, as long as processes take place, as long as we all contribute in some way to its ephemeral construction.

"Social organization is messy and refractory, a shambles rather than a crystal […]. There is no tidy atom and no clear-cut world, only complex striations and long strings that reptate as in a polymer goo" (White, H.C. (2008), Identity and control, Princeton, Princeton University Press, p. 18).

Q: What could #anarchism contribute to #sociology?

Richard Day: It could help to create more people with more radical stances on more issues; to push people beyond liberal social democratic approaches. And—though this is increasingly unlikely given the ongoing neoliberalization of the university—anarchism might help to show academics that being merely academic is not enough [...] they have to take risks.

As a (re) #introduction on this new server, I have been on Mastodon for a few months (see previous post for why I have moved servers) after not using social media for most of the last 3 years. I wanted to connect with people on Mastodon - and through its decentralised, anarchistic ethos - with similar interests and beliefs, especially after becoming increasingly isolated through having #LongCovid since 2020 where I am now pretty much housebound, the difficulties I have had with communication because of my #ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder alongside living in accordance to the scientific fact that #CovidIsNotOver and #CovidIsAirborne. In the brief time I have been on Mastodon I feel very lucky to have connected with the people I have, which has had a positive impact on my mental health and life. I look forward to building on these connections and also chatting with more people who are interested in things like #Anarchism #MutualAid #RadicalCommunalCare #Intersectionality #Veganism #StarTrek #DisabilityJustice #DisabilityActivism #AntiCapitalism #SciFi and #Sociology to name a few topics/interests!
