Completed #Knitting of the smaller #Socks I'm making for my mom after completing larger socks for my dad after she saw some in the same pattern in similar yarn on my feet over a Christmas visit in 2022.

This was the 12-row K-P cuff and bind-off with Jeni's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off.

These socks have a narrower foot and a shorter leg as there was not as much yarn left for the full pattern after making a full set for my dad in this colorway. I have already made socks for Mom (midcalf) and Dad (ankle) in a different color. These are the ones I am happy to finish by December as combined semi-surprise Chrimbirthday gifts for 2023.

The pattern is Elementary Watson by Sherry Menton. The yarn is Stiletto by Plymouth Yarns in color 825 that I bought from an Etsy store because it looks like it has been discontinued.

More #Knitting of the smaller #Socks I am making for my mom after completing larger socks for my dad after she saw some in the same pattern in similar yarn on my feet over a Christmas visit in 2022.

This was the third pattern repeat of the thinner "cosplay" version of the socks. There are the same 32 stitches with a stitch marker on the sole but 40 stitches along the top where the pattern.

These socks will have a narrower foot and a shorter leg as there is not as much yarn left for the full pattern after making a full set for my dad in this colorway. I have already made socks for Mom (midcalf) and Dad (ankle) in a different color. These are the ones I am hoping to finish by December as combined semi-surprise Chrimbirthday gifts for 2023.

The pattern is Elementary Watson by Sherry Menton. The yarn is Stiletto by Plymouth Yarns in color 825 that I bought from an Etsy store because it looks like it has been discontinued.

When trying to stream yesterday through a filtering proxy, I noticed #ffmpeg didn't support #SOCKS… Yet.

I think our washing machine contains a wormhole that selects one sock from every pair the first time they are washed and shoots them off into an alien world somewhere never to be seen on Earth again.

For this reason one sock from every pair now exists/doesn't exist...somewhere? A sort of Schrodinger's Sock, if you will.

Ha! After a few stripes I realized this pair is going to be striped opposite each other. Oops. I started from either end of the skein of yarn so it makes perfect sense....

Christmas socks!

I am knitting these without a pattern and learning as I go. I've started over 3 or 4 times already.

Trying the spiral rib with no heel. Started (this time) with a magic loop cast on with 8 stitches and I'm working the middle of the toe like the flat, round center of a shawl. We'll see how it goes!

I might be a convert to Magic Loop. I normally use DPNs to knit socks, and I knit the first sock of this pair that way. But the pattern is written for ML, so I switched. I’ve tried it before and didn’t like it, but I’ve got better needles now and it’s so much faster. It’s amazing what a difference the ChiaoGoo Red Lace make

Asking the group mind in case someone has #opinions.

The drastic weight loss during my extended hospital stay (~100lbs) has changed my body-shape in all ways save skeletal.

1 weird-ass effect is that my feet have shrunk in width & thickness, but not length, which means I’m now swimming in my Docs, but can’t go down a size.

I’m trying to find a solution that won’t make it too hot for summer wear. I’m leaning towards #hiking #socks but am not familiar enough.

Any suggestions/solutions?

Finished my pair of 'magic' self-striping Fair Isle socks using the 15 year old (discontinued) yarn I had stashed away forever. I look forward to wearing these. Plain 'vanilla' pattern on size 1 9-inch circular needles, with steel dpns for the tricker parts of the heels and toes.

I managed to match the cuffs and the whole legs in the color sequence. Didn't attempt to match the foot or toe striping since they'll mostly be inside my shoes anyway. 😸
