Pink Quince with Speckles - Two pink and white quince flowers on their branch. The morning sun is shining right on them and dropping the stamen shadows onto the flower petals. The background is a soft blue, lime and dark green speckled color. The meaning for the pink quince flower is to bring good luck and prosperity.

The pink quince flowers are the only ones which seem to be hardy enough to fair alright during the spring frosts we still have. It is also the only one of our flowering quince which produces fruits and delicious jam and quince cheese. Quince cheese is a delicacy found in gourmet cheese shops and rather expensive. I make enough each year to gift during the holidays. The white and peach quince flowers all show signs of frost damage. That damage looks like rust and does not make for a good macro photograph. I hope they recover and I can add some of those before the flowering season is over.

This stunning quince floral macro is a treat and will look amazing in the contemporary modern space. The pastel colors give this composition a fresh and crisp feeling like the cool spring morning it was photographed. The view is slightly below and up towards the flower. I love the shadow of the stamen on the quince flower petal. It's natures time stamp on this art work.

A single worker honeybee on top of her honeycomb. The beekeeper is doing his first hive inspection of the season. This gives me the opportunity to take some macro photographs of the hive. I have to be careful to time it just right and take the picture at the beginning of the inspection. The bees are just a little disoriented and do not bother me. However, if the beekeeper gets close to the hive queen they might become aggressive and go after anything standing in range. Their sole instinct is to protect their queen. Only the female worker bee can sting. The male drones do not have stingers.

Some of the tasks of a beekeeper are to look for the health of the hive. Bees have a few enemies who can compromise their hives. Hive beetles and mites can kill a bee hive. The beekeepers' inspection ensures that those pests are illuminated and the honeybees make it through the seasons. Another thing the beekeepers look for is honeycombs not built right. Comb where it does not belong makes the hive suspect to other problems. Extra comb gets removed for the bees to rebuild that section. Lastly, a healthy hive can get too big and needs to be split.
This is done to prevent the honeybees to swarm and look for another place to call home.

As gardeners, we respect our honeybees and take great care to ensure they remain healthy.

White and Pink Quince Blossoms and Bud _ Thee small quince blossoms. One is wide open to the left side, a closed one tide shut in the back, and a half-open blossom to the right. The brown quince branch is curved across the composition. The selective focus I choose for this floral macro artwork focuses just on the edges of the two quince blossoms in the foreground. I love how the raindrops were sitting on the flower petals and wanted to bring the viewer's eye to that point of interest. The view is a little below eye level, feeling like you stepped up to the quince bush looking up towards the sky. Opting for a macro lens allows me to edit out the busy surroundings of the quince blossom. The flowering quince bush has lots of flowering branches crisscrossing behind the blossom. Pink and White Quince Blossom with Buds - Flowering quince is a deciduous shrub of the Rosacea family. This pink and white quince was a gift to my husband who loves quince jelly. I opted for 4 different versions of quince. However, since quince is the only one that produces large enough fruits to make jelly and quince cheese. It is also the first quince to blossom in Spring.
