If you were ever Interested in how Windows Task Manager works internally then why not join the creator (@davepl) who will explain his code to you.
Yep, the source code for Task Manager is revealed in the latest episode on Dave's Channel 🙂🖖
Looks like this might be a Part 1 so more parts to follow! 😁
Dave has lots of other related content including Windows War Stories playlist from his days at Microsoft you might also find interesting 🙂🤷♂️

Out now: The 2nd edition of Marianna Baranovska-Bölter's and my book "HELLO, I'M ELIZA"! Most of the chapters had been edited, some extended and an all-new chapter about the searching and finding of #Weizembaum's original #ELIZA #SourceCode had been added - as well as a faksimile of this code.
I have finally done something about the rampant GPL violations in the #Blender add-on market.
I am publishing this so they can't pretend they didn't get the memo. You are my witnesses.
Let's see what's going to happen next.
And whilst the #SSPL has it's own problems that disqualify it, a "#ShareAlike" provision requiring public code to remain #public could be added to any #FLOSS #license, not just @creativecommons licenses.
I.e. "Any used versions - released as part of a product or on their own - must have their #SourceCode released in public for everyone to access and reproducably build with no form of barriers!"
#GPLv3 for example is full of ideological bs that is neither enforceable nor legal (i.e. surrendering all patents and licensing then for free) when even it doesn't account for #paywalling of #SourceCode access or restricting it to (paying) customers.
::: WipeOut - the classic future racer rewritten and ported to Linux :linux: 🚀
How? Well - the source code simply leaked in '22.
There are at least two other ports already: WipEout Phantom Edition / unnamed project by developer XProger.
Legal or not - are we approaching a new era not to be stopped? Code is there with no assets to continue policing the stuff everywhere.
What do YOU think? Good or bad?
@jwildeboer @SUSE @ubuntu @opensuse @SolarisDiaspora I think "Just clone #RHEL!" is kinda bad and unsustainable as a business.
Killing #CentOS and barring #OracleLinux was more of "glock-leg" / "shooting themselves in the foot" of #RedHat and IMHO it should get RHEL to decline in adoption similar to #grsecurity when they #paywalled access to their #SourceCode.
But needing to use #api s for every. gdmn webpage ?

The source code to the first Far Cry game from developer Crytek and publisher Ubisoft has found its way to the internet, and it looks like some people have been able to compile and play the game. #FarCry #SourceCode https://www.neowin.net/news/the-first-far-cry-games-source-code-has-been-leaked-and-may-be-playable-with-some-work/
Twice in my career I found in a company's codebase the following line of code:
This was in commercial products.
Not only does this show a significant misunderstanding of how these work, but even more importantly it clearly showed that the developers hadn't bothered to test their code. #cpp #randomness #sourcecode

NeXTstep source code leaked
This is very interesting news. I’d be all for someone reviving the NeXT as a hobbyist hardware platform, maybe atop those RK3588 ARM chips (even with Motorola 680x0 emulation, it would be a pretty amazing thing to see).(...)

And yes, as promised, I released the source for my ferrety interactive fiction game https://feneric.itch.io/the-gateway-of-the-ferrets for Source Code Amnesty Day yesterday. #InteractiveFiction #SourceCode
For those interested in the crossover between interactive fiction and ferrets, there are a few other games with ferrets in them, too: https://ifdb.org/search?searchfor=tag:ferret Enjoy!

I also look forward to see how Twitter responds to this. Many #opensource projects are actually very hesitant to introduce pull requests and issues by the community which are not direct bug fixes. I wonder how Twitter will respond and if this opportunity to contribute is true or just something to keep us distracted.
We praise thee, Twitter code,

Twitter takes legal action after source code leaked online https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/mar/27/twitter-legal-source-code-leaked-elon-musk-github In the court filing, Twitter’s assistant general counsel, Julian Moore, said the request to identify the leaker was being made under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which came into force in 1998. #copyright #Twitter #sourcecode #DMCA
The #Inform7 #sourceCode for my two released #parser #TextAdventure / #InteractiveFiction games (Border Reivers and Napier's Cache) is now in the #IFArchive, in the games/source/inform directory. This is part of a move this year to release more IF game source code publicly. http://www.ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archive/games/source/inform/ #ComputerGames #Adventure #HistoricalGames #ScottishGames #Code #GameDev
So with #SourceCode Amnesty Day coming up on April 1st, I should probably finally do something about making the source for my two #InteractiveFiction titles (with still unpublished source code, most of my other recent stuff is already available to the world) public:
"The Gateway of The Ferrets" https://feneric.itch.io/the-gateway-of-the-ferrets
"Timeout in the Wasteland" https://feneric.itch.io/timeout-in-the-wasteland
April 1 is IF #SourceCode Amnesty Day. I plan to join in on this, sharing my #Inform7 source code for my Scottish historical #parser #InteractiveFiction #games Border Reivers and Napier's Cache. http://blog.zarfhome.com/2023/03/april-1-is-if-source-code-amnesty-day.html #OpenSource #ScottishHistory #HistoricalGames #TextAdventures #GameDev #Inform #Coding #Programming #ComputerGames

When are we going to get #Codex/#ChatGPT-ops? I mean, if #SourceCode is partially generated, surely the prompts need to be stored in #Git as well. And if changes are committed to prompts, the #LargeLanguageModel needs to be automatically re-run to generate updated #code.
In some cases, the #prompts to the code generation model need to have source code injected from other code files, both for making sure the model knows how to interface with them, and in some cases in the style of "do this but fix the #SQL injection errors" iterative improvement.
This of course requires some file format to template the prompts.
Also, the language models could be injected as #build plug-ins to the code, in pom.xmls in #Maven and through other mechanisms with other build tools.
Perhaps we'll need #Jenkins plug-ins for those build steps.
@nova you are not imagining things. We are in a #simulation with the granularity of Planke's constant, demonstrated by the fact that everything is quantized. The #glitches are real because multiple people experience them at the same time. I'd love to get my hands on the #sourcecode 'cause I bet it's #buggy as all hell.
Does this count as #projects? Last year I filed a #FOIA for the #SourceCode of the government tool fs2comma.exe¹ from #FEC. AND I GOT IT 💥 The C++, project files, and some build logs are now in this public GitHub archive.² And I ported it to a Docker image.³
From the FEC attorney: "you are the first person to request code and I was curious why" 😁
