Plans for two blocks of flats containing 65 homes have been scrapped by a Lewisham council after the builder bringing forward the properties went bust. A block of 34 temporary accommodation flats on Edward Street in Deptford and a block of 31 apartments on Winchfield Road near Home Park in Sydenham will no longer be built.

An Indian restaurant in Penge has been crowned the winner of an award after a ceremony celebrating the country’s finest curries.

No #parkrun for me this week as I was supporting the start of a new #PolesApart #NordicWalking class being run at #BeddingtonPark. 'Twas nice to have a 9:45 start as well, so a bit more of a #Saturday lie in #today. Plan is to alternate Saturdays between parkrun and Nordic Walking.

Just back from a 2 hour 10km walk along part of my local river in South London, the River Wandle. The Wandle runs from Carshalton to Wandsworth where it joins the River Thames. Flowing through mostly industrial areas, it remains remarkably clean and home to lots of wildlife (which I'm never lucky enough to catch on film 🫤)

I got off the train at Grove Park Station and immediately saw signs for the #CapitalRing walk. There is also a wonderful Railway Children mural. The book’s author Edith Nesbit lived in the area, and the location is thought to be inspired by her walks to Grove Park nature reserve.
