@mattwilcox Oof, this hits hard, because my interest in #accessibility completely agrees with you, but this is such an unpopular opinion that making such a transition will be a long and tricky process (not to say it's not worthwhile), and I'll have to work out how to configure various linters and code formatters to do the right thing.
Have you found code formatters can usually be configured to use tabs without too much trouble?
(In particular, I've not yet worked out if I can make autopep8 or similar go against its grain and *not* just do 4-space indents.)

I've been making a conscious effort to use #stagemanager with two very large displays over the past week, and I think #apple's intent was to make it into a sort of “visual #spaces for the masses”, grouping apps by context/task visually instead of hiding them in a separate space.
As such, it is a complete and dismal failure usability-wise, because:
Google will shut down Currents, the work-focused Google Plus replacement
' It’ll wind down starting in 2023 and be replaced with Spaces’
With *what*?! Any people here who used to be G+ refugees back in the day? I know there are a few. And now we're wondering when Spaces will be "sunsetted”.

People are incredibly good nowadays when they have to deal with #spaces and #tabs in #code.
Which is why Unicode has introduced the #NonBreakingSpace to keep people challanged!
The #Fediverse has not been #optimized. There is no board driving us to increase #engagement, no matter what kind. As #admin we have some metrics but what we are really fighting for are #Spaces where people can find #connection and maybe some #meaning; people feel #safe and #respected; #creativity #imagination and #humor can flourish. Working for The Man in #tech, he always told us we were making a better world. What we are all making here together is one of the few times that is true.

@specked He was smart enough to latch on to smart ideas, creative enough to envision other ideas, and made enough money to hire the right people who could actually implement the ideas.
I’m sure he’s been in conversations like the #twitter #spaces in your recording, many times, where he was clearly out of his depth. But they haven’t been public. And I’m sure there have been engineers present who could tell he didn’t have a clue.

He made a few smart decisions early in the dot com boom era, got lucky with some timing, and used his skills at manipulation, and probably a little unethical conduct, to get in front of the right people

@pixel I tried #macOS #Ventura’s Stage Manager for a couple of weeks. I work both on my 16” MBP display alone and with an attached 5K external display.
I turned it off. I was spending *more* time managing windows by dragging them in and out of different groups, with new windows automatically shuttling currently visible ones off to the side in a separate group instead of keeping everything together.
#StageManager, like #Spaces before it, needs better memory about the windows it’s organizing.
I've seen a few people wonder what could happen to #Spaces, now that #Twitter seems to be in a downward spiral, and whether it could possibly be replaced using #FOSS. As such, I thought I'd write a blog post on how you can use #Janus as a #webrtc server to do exactly that, and build some sort of Spaces/Reddit Talk/Clubhouse clone with a scalable audio approach. Quite generic and mostly focused on scalability (not the app itself), but hopefully interesting nevertheless!

I have also a great interest in #didactics of geography. I currently work as a teaching fellow (PRAG in French, not totally sure this is equivalent) at the Univ. of Bordeaux.
