Based on Harrow the Ninth, do we know yet how Harrow was able to enter the locked tomb? It had God's blood wards, but child *Harrow* didn't have his blood; Gideon did. Was Gideon's proximity enough to break them?
If the answer lies in Nona the Ninth, please don't tell me the answer; I haven't read it yet.

WELL, the Mister and I took two nights to watch the latest Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning and I'm sitting here thinking... I could write something better than this.
Tired, obvious killing off the older woman for man pain, tired, obvious "oh no a killer ai is gonna destroy the world " trope, still completely unbelievable plastic face technology.
The action and stunts were pretty fun. The suspending of my disbelief over plot points AND my loud, sustained groaning for what felt like three hours, NOT SO MUCH.
This movie very obviously only exists so it can set up a newer, younget team, but joke's on you, franchise, I was only showing up for these actors as it is.

Here's another one about the possible ends of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty; this time, the showdown on the launch platform between Reed and V, and why ending Reed is not only the right thing to do, but what he wants you to do.
So, the lead up to this, you team up with So-Mi in the stadium to flee, wait for a bit, get threatened over the holo by Reed, and later reunite with So-Mi to get her on her ride to Luna. On the way, you lay waste to the Night City spaceport, mowing through the security force of the airport, and then having an epic battle against Black Ops special forces of the president. When a chopper swoops in and pins you, there's no choice but to link up with So-Mi and be a proxy for her Blackwall powers that fry everything electronic - including and specifically, the implants of any remaining soldiers in your way; feeling like a vengeful god on a rampage guaranteed. On the final train ride to the platform, So-Mi confesses that there's only one dose of the cure to cook up, because the captured AI is a single use toy. Should you at this point wisely decide not to call Reed immediately, you carry her to the capsule - only for Reed to step out of the capsule and confront you.
Let's unpack a little here. So-Mi's content of her confession at that point shouldn't come as much of a surprise. She hinted at that since before any decision in the stadium was made - she hints at betrayal, and regret, and her body language when V says they trust her seems off - definitely not relieved, quite in contrast to when V says they're in it to survive. In the former case, the burden is to betray an unexpected new friend, in the latter case, she can pretend to just use a selfish merc for a bit longer. But it's all there to put together. At the latest, the conversation in the van should tell you that when she speaks of regrets, she certainly doesn't mean the president, or the NUSA, and as certain not only Reed and Alex. So the surprise for the player should be that So-Mi confesses way before she's home and dry - actually, a sign of trust in V, and that she does want to unload her conscience and leave V the possibility to reconsider. As for the chaos and destruction that she caused up to here... well, she has done not much different from V, but on her playing field equivalent. So-Mi plays with the federal government as scale, and the betrayal and backstabbing that is usual there. V in their story causes damage to a power plant on a scale that blackouts half the city to down a corpo AV. Disrupted a public festivity, endangering uncounted bystanders. Left a trail of blood in freeing Evelyn, disrupts a Netwatch operation that might endanger the integrity of the Blackwall, makes a pact with an AI from beyond the Blackwall that could easily lead to fucking over all of the world, and will, possibly, attack Arasaka tower, causing untold damage, and global economic and political unrest, depending on the chosen path. V is no stranger to leaving chaos and destruction in their wake, on a dazzling scale for a solo kleptopunk from the Afterlife. Tangling with Hansen is despicable? Puh-leaze, with how many gangoon grandes does V dirty dance, how many backs have they stabbed, how many arms twisted?
So... the moral side cleared up (V and So-Mi are pretty equal in footing and claim to moral high ground), what's Reeds game here. Reed is no doubt fully informed about how dangerous V, So-Mi, and both together are at this point, since supervising the president's operation means he had to be in contact with all the now corpses until they were corpsified by V. If he had any intention to effectively take possession of So-Mi, he would plain and simple not step out of the capsule onto the platform into V's way. Throughout the DLC, he has been shown to not take any risks of that kind. Remember how he approaches V for the first time, or how he deals with the netrunner siblings, or his stance towards Slider, or what Alex has to say about him... Any danger to the operation possible, he eliminates it, or minimizes it by picking a superior, unassailable position if he can, and here her so much could.
Stepping out of that capsule, letting V put down So-Mi, let them grab a gun, and have a little discussion, is not the MO of that man that we got to know. He could play it safe and simply take V out with a shot from the shadows, in the back, or even just hide in the capsule and splatter V's brain over the capsule when they turn the corner. If Reed's aim was to bring this operation to an end as the president wants. V isn't a consideration in the operational plans, other than "danger to be neutralized".
Reed's aim is not to do that. He doesn't negotiate, contrary to the rule book, either. In the conversation, he taunts. Digs into V. Tries to make them mad - plain stupid if we were to take him as the seasoned, cold operative that he we saw. Here, he isn't. He truly, seriously wishes for V to end him.
But why. He simply didn't have the heart to do it himself ever since he went into exile in Night City. He deeply, truly believes in the goodness of his country, and his unshakable duty to it, even knowing that president giving him his orders is an evil to the bone, ice cold tyrant with all the moral qualms of soggy toast. And this duty doesn't allow him to quit, from the agency or life. And now, torn between his equally true and deep wish to help So-Mi and his duty, or at least to not put a terrifying WMD into the president's hands again, he cooks up the only compromise he can - choosing the stupid confrontation over a well executed, single shot. Much like So-Mi on the train, he puts his head on the chopping block before V. Unlike her, Reed wants them to take the swing at his neck. Little detail, Reed says "Too late" as his last words should V flub the execution shot and not hit his head. Too late? Not operationally for V and So-Mi to send her to the moon, not too late for V to get away afterwards; it might just be that after that stunt, remaining Black Ops are plainly shitting their pants at taking on V. But likely, the shot was too late to prevent Reed from suffering for so long in his conundrum of duty and loyalties.
As for the final choice in the matter - should V be angry at So-Mi? Well. I think not. Even with being lured into all this by the promise of a cure, and no intention of ever delivering, V is another sailor on that same boat heading for doom. Possibly the only person who could fully understand the lengths and depths to go to. The only person with the power and agency to free one between the two of them, and themself only by putting their trust in an organization every bit as crooked and morally bankrupt as Arasaka, with exactly no bargaining chips on their side to assure fair play.
If V can't find it in their heart and, quite honestly, their brain, there is nobody. It's a cycle of betrayal, and only V can break it, but without standing to gain.

Still scratching my head today that I heard very little re this gorgeous movie last year, or just from people concerned that Disney wasn’t promoting it. I get not wanting to give away the surprises, but I feel like maybe Disney flinched.

This parley hits real different once a #Starborn yourself—only available when repeating the main quest without admitting to Constellation who and what you really are—but I’m in such disbelief at the zealous audacity of The Emissary… Knowing what I know, who she is, and really the one and only path she could have taken to willingly enter the Unity instead of turning back…
Like, I thought it was the ultimate ethical challenge the first time, to be forced to choose a side between two absolute, equivalent, and opposing evils, thus having no choice at all but an even greater one? God damn, how much more of a mindfuck can this game get??

It took a LOT longer to romance Andreja in the new universe as a Starborn—and yeah, she did ask without wanting to know the answer who we were to each other in my original universe
So that got me thinking. In my headcanon? The infinity of the multiverse doesn’t individuate the parallel selfs, it merely exposes the infinite potential of every moment, the choices that could have been made and the resulting consequences. Isn’t that the notion of Unity? Becoming Starborn means coming to know yourself and remain true across all possible timelines simultaneously. That means, there is only one Andreja.
Meanwhile, Sarah has been twice as pushy and even though we firmly agreed to a platonic friendship she won’t stop aggressively flirting with me, while Barrett has shown zero interest in me in this universe. It’s kind of bizarre.

I’ve just finished binge watching Star Wars – The Clone Wars. It took several days to watch everything and the final season was SO AMAZING that I watched it in a single run. It’s really great and it has so many important episodes. It was so good to see Ahsoka finally reuniting with Anakin at the end and so sad at the same time! Rebels still is my favorite, but I’m now very fond of the Clone Wars. #starwars #ahsoka #clonewars #anakin #spoilers
Couldn’t take flying around the galaxy in a Starborn Guardian anymore, so went and hijacked a Spacer Hyena.
There were like 30 Spacers on board, which was pretty bizarre considering the crew and passenger limits imposed on the player. So I pulled out my osmium dagger and went slashing.
And would you believe it? I take the ship and I STILL don’t have enough credits to register the damn thing.
Damn this new universe! I hate being Starborn
Thank God Almighty! I found some cola and root beer as loot.
Oh right I also found a digipick. Yes... Just the one so far.
I’m seriously regretting becoming Starborn. This new universe is just one facepalm after another.
Oh that reminds me. Haven’t heard a single word about Terrormorphs in this universe yet. Weird, right? Of course the average predator in any given biome is now much more repulsive and aggressive than the worst Terrormorphs I faced in my original universe. So…
Yesterday I watched for the first time the episode of Star Wars - The Clone Wars in which Ahsoka leaves the Jedi Order. It was such an episode, but so sad that I cried copiously. Now I begin to understand Ahsoka’s sobriety and pragmatism in her own series.

The "spoiler" mentioned at https://mastodon.blaede.family/@cassidy/111168862264298735 was this (and ~100 other videos in the same vein):
"Ahsoka Episode 8 Trailer: Luke Skywalker Returns"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-wi2-kPkjs
"Episode 7 makes it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that Luke WILL RETURN in the finale!"
Like COME ON, I just lost any respect I may have had for your entire channel. And then a bunch of others picked that up and ran with it as well.
It's so tiring.
BAYLAN WAS STANDING ON A STATUE OF THE FREAKING MORTIS GODS OMG
And we saw Morai. And what the heck is Shin up to?
I feel like a season 2 could be great with Peridia and the original galaxy happening in parallel, and then hopefully eventually catching back up with one another.
The finale felt very Empire Strikes Back in its bittersweetness. I like it. I was sort of hoping for more of a climactic finale, but within its own story, it was great!
It does feel a *bit* like it suffers from the need to tie/lead into "more media", like future series and movies, which is a consequence of the times, I suppose. Then again, if it neatly tied everything up, I think people would be disappointed.
I did not expect the switcheroo of Thrawn AND Ezra making back to the, erm, "original" galaxy, while Ahsoka, Sabine, Baylan, and Shin all remained Far, Far Away. That's intriguing; it's giving Lost In Space.
What the heck are Thrawn and the Nightsisters up to on Dathomir with those (presumed) corpses?? Are they Nightsisters? Nightbrothers? Something else???
Oh man. I just watched the finale. WHO BOY.
My main question is: what the heck are they gonna do about Baylan Skoll/Ray Stevenson?? They left his story SO open and seemingly important to the future of everything we know about Star Wars. Ray's passing is just so freaking tragic. :( He was so good in this series and I would have loved to see him shine even more.
A story: Eighteen months ago when I was writing Coils, my eldest son asked me to include our cat in the novel. I warned him that he might not like the end result, but he insisted anyway.
I adore our cat. She's annoying AF, but she is the perfect foil for our family.
That said, it is unwise to antagonise a writer.

Fuck all of you nerds posting spoilers on Mastodon without Content Warnings. The geek ratio is so much higher here, this situation is waaay worse than Twitter.
Yeah, I said it.
I've reached level 5 while still on the same first planet where you have to clear out the local leader. Rather than go on the main mission to HQ, I decided instead to explore the planet. That yielded multiple Legendary items from multiple interesting places.
All that adventuring validated my choice of prioritizing oxygen as a Xenobiologist (Introvert, Alien DNA, Terra Firma), as I'm perpetually significantly over-encumbered.
OH YEAH, one of the senators (have to re-watch to see who) who thought Hera’s mission to find Thrawn was an excuse to look for Ezra repeated a line almost verbatim from the Imperial loyalist guy at the Corellian shipyards: “There are former Imperials among all levels of the New Republic government.” That feels sus, and feels like how real-world politicians agree on certain talking points—all too often repeating the same phrases verbatim.
I think over all this ep was the most FUN so far, which was nice. People pointed out in the #AhsokaWatchAlong that there were Grevious-esque ships providing a bit of a nod to prequel fans w/o dipping into fan service, Hera seemed more like herself (“animated,” I dare say!), and there was more smiling, less brooding.
My one criticism is that it felt SHORT like we just got started and then it was over, but that’s not always a bad thing.
Huyang is quickly becoming a favorite of mine with this series. I’m glad he’s a central recurring character instead of just used as a one-off cameo as I thought he’d be!
His backup battery restoring after the action and the “what’d I miss?”/“standard protocol”/“really? when?” bits were all good fun. :) Feels like proper non-forced Star Wars humor.
I fanboyed pretty hard when #Ahsoka left the ship while in space—it’s something we’ve seen a few times in Clone Wars (& maybe Rebels?) but never in live action.
Someone in the #AhsokaWatchAlong asked why they’d shoot at her instead of the rest of the ship, and imho it’s easy: ego. Each pilot wanted to be the one to claim the kill of a Jedi. We even see this between Morgan Elsbeth and Shin, where Shin cockily tells Elsbeth she’ll get the kill.
HYPERSPACE WHALES! Sick to see the Purrgil up close in live action. They looked great. I hope we see them again, but glowing a bit more… :)
The dogfighting felt GREAT imho. Those enemy ships really felt super Star Wars in that they looked like WWII planes dogfighting, but also felt like classic Star Wars hot rods—clearly scrappy and old, not shiny and new.
Okay, they’re really going the “Sabine is a non-Force-intuitive apprentice” route? Huh! Kind of unique, but idk. Feels weird for Ahsoka to be so into Jedi stuff after her last encouter with the Jedi Order (where they falsely accused her of a plot against them and banished her, only for Anakin to find the actual perp and clear her name).
I loved the “what if I *could* move the cup with the Force?” moment because we’ve all been there.
I feel like the “obvious” route is for this season to be a long road to find Thrawn and Ezra, though, and have Thrawn only really featured at the end. Then again, if that was the plan, I feel like they would have not featured him as prominently (or at all?) in the trailers. It would have been a much more exciting reveal if we didn’t see him until the heroes did.
So maybe that’s not how this is going to go? I’d be happy to be wrong. :)
I am curious who the main villain of this series is going to be. It’s obvious to say “Thrawn,” but he was always best (e.g. in the books) when he wasn’t a blatant villain.
EVEN MORE SPOILERY from the books, you’ve been warned.
It would be a great twist for most people if it turns out he’s characterized as not evil, but as actually a reasonable person who is openly preparing the galaxy for greater threats… like the Gysks.
Oh, the dynamic of Sabine being a non-Force-sensitive Padawan of a non-Jedi is interesting. I love that it’s this gray area, and honestly feels more like what I wanted from the sequel trilogy; the Jedi order as we knew it was deeply flawed, and maybe even the concept of Jedi/Sith as we knew it was flawed.
Ahsoka the Gray? Yes please.
On a different note, I love that what people assumed was the World Between Worlds appears to be a Zeffo/Nightsister shrine thing.
I feel like keeping the actual World Between Worlds as a one-off weird thing from the animated series would absolutely be the right choice, otherwise we gotta deal (more) with potential time travel fallout… and I don’t want Star Wars to go down that route. 😅
I just personally hate time travel tropes.
Another small example: Thrawn is shown in a trailer on the bridge of the Eye of Sion. 🤷 That kind of tells us that the ship is gonna make it to him, at least. Idk, maybe not a big deal, but it could have left more mystery to not see that.
I am kind of regretting watching ALL the trailers and teasers. I get that Disney wants to build hype, but there was actually a lot to glean from those trailers that I think would hit harder if I hadn’t seen them… even if most of it was from the first two episodes.
We saw Sabine cut her hair and don her Mando gear in the trailers, so the shock of her losing the battle at the end of E1 carried a LOT less weight.
I’m kinda tired of the “Who is Marrok??” discourse online; not every masked character needs to be someone we already know, and I think it would be more interesting to have them be an original character.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to know their backstory, and why they have Inquisitor gear, but I think it would be less interesting if it was Ezra, Barris, etc. But idk. We’ll see.
Where do I begin?? I loved seeing characters from Rebels right away, and I loved that it feels like we’re gonna get into the more mystical/unexplored areas of Star Wars. Some of my favorite Clone Wars arcs I describe as “Star Wars gets weird” and I kinda hope to see that here, what with the references to the Nightsisters, the Chaos, Zeffo-looking stuff, etc.
I LOVED the star map thing, laser-pointering right outta the known galaxy.
WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD. I used the content warning and an obnoxious all-caps warning, you can’t complain about me spoiling things! I will *also* tag everything in the thread #Ahsoka, #spoilers, and #AhsokaSpoilers as much as I can.
MUTE THIS THREAD if you don’t want to see it, and I’d recommend you also mute those hashtags for good measure. You’re in control of your ~~destiny~~ spoiler-exposure, here. :)
Okay… thread:
So the dude and I have a bedtime readings ritual - he reads and I listen (if I read, he snoozles, so it has to be thus). Our most recent read was 'Hail Mary', and we both enjoyed the story.
He (an electrical engineer/software engineer) super duper enjoyed the story. We both agreed that the best part was...spoiler alert...don't read further if you've not read the book yet...
Here are my spoiler thoughts on the excellent premiere episode of SNW S2, "The Broken Circle":
:trek_tos_spock: Spapel/Chock shippers should be over the moon! Goddam Spock was crying - crying - over Christine. Oh man, I absolutely loved it. Canon lawyers, on the other hand, will undoubtedly not like where this season is headed, to say the least.
:trek_tos_spock: Speaking of canon, having the Gorn being such an open threat this season is also going to cause canon folk a canniption fit, considering they don't appear to be known in TOS.
:trek_tos_spock: Who knew that M'Benga and Chapel were such badasses?! I'd love to learn more about their and Ortegas' Klingon War backstories.
:trek_tos_spock: Love the origin story for Spock's lute playing, but I have one question. Does M'Benga just have random musical instruments in his office closet?
:trek_tos_spock: Having Carol Kane play Chief Engineer Pelia as a yiddishe bubbe (with the old country accent) was a hoot! It didn't work out so well on Andor, but I suspect it will be a much more loving portrayal on Star Trek. People will either love or hate Carol Kane as a Starfleet officer, for various reasons. I happen to love her!
:trek_tos_spock: Things you don't hear every day: Spock being called an "un-Vulcan Vulcan" and "the Vulcan who acts nothing like a Vulcan." Also, being asked by Admiral April if he was hungover.🤣
:trek_tos_spock: Stealing a starship doesn't seem to carry much of a penalty in 23rd century Starfleet!
:trek_tos_spock: I loved, loved the absolute diversity of Klingon ridges in this one episode! There is no one right way for Klingons to look.
:trek_tos_spock: Uh, is there some reason why La'an was wearing Mirror Georgiou's outfit from Disco S2?
:trek_tos_spock: The tribute to Nichelle was unexpected and wonderful.
:trek_tos_spock: Speaking of Uhura, new fans that start with SNW and then move on to TOS are going to wonder why the hell Uhura, M'Benga and Chapel have nothing to do in TOS! Given how rich their stories are here in SNW.
All in all, a strong and promising start to Season 2! Can't wait for everything else that's in store (especially the musical episode)🤣 !
