Press quote: ..."Protest planned for Keir Starmer's visit to Scotland over Gaza stance"
News outlets always seem to call #Starmer Keir Starmer...
is the "Sir" part of his title dropped at his/his party's request to give the impression he is just an ordinary person?
No doubt there's a strong feeling even in the #Tory party that the electorate just want them gone regardless of what they say & do right now, however there's a difference
The fact remains that Labour isn't the only party on offer. It's not about a Tory loss, it's about a Labour win
#Starmer values power because he understands the simplicity of you can't achieve anything without it?
What part of that don't you understand?
So again, the #UK had it's opportunity in 2019 to cast its vote on Corbyn's vision for the country. What happened?
Because to do otherwise is playing straight into the #Tories hands. You just can't seem to compute the ramifications, hence why #Labour suffered the biggest General Election dry bumming in history the last time around.
That's where doing it your way got us. FIVE more years of #ToryCorruption.
Will you ever connect the dots, or is your hatred of #Starmer so blinding that you seriously can't see the wood for the trees?
They are true "tory enablers" by utterly failing to oppose the tories, failing to offer any alternative vision, and failing to stand for anything
I fear that cowardice and indecision will become a habit and the next labour government will just be an impotent place-holder til the tories return
The advert was from 2019 & had nothing to do with Starmer. My point is merely things are even worse for the UK in 2023, than in 2019.
So again, the #UK had it's opportunity in 2019 to cast its vote on Corbyn's vision for the country. So what happened?
It's why those who get Labour's tactics mustn't lose heart with the constant attacks from the right & left, & keep our eyes on the prize of gaining power.
All the Tories have got is "Stop the Boats" & the blummin "Elgin Marbles". 🙄
Let's give them nothing! #Labour are no longer the party of naivety they were in 2019.
They've become street smart & politically savvy, & this is why Doris, Dizzy Lizzy, nor Sink have been able to lay a glove on #Starmer.
If Corbyn's message was so effective, why did #Labour suffer the heaviest General Election bludgeoning in political history?
The country had it's say & roundly rejected Corbyn like no other political leader before him
He lost the #Brexit vote. He Lost in 2017. He lost in 2019. That's the only legacy that counts
🚨* I've just happened across this chilling Labour Party advert from 4 years ago, released days after the 2019 General Election was announced.

"on top of the £140m he's already showered on #Rwanda, when we send people there under this treaty, we have to pay for their accommodation and their upkeep for five years"
Anyone who we send to Rwanda who commits a crime can also be returned to the UK under the treaty
So not just £140million then.... at this rate these people are each costing way more than retaining a Category A prisoner for a life sentence....
"The reality is Thatcher led a Tory government with a hostile, cruel, dangerous track record of lies and cover ups, political interference and state-sanctioned police violence (such as Shoot to Kill in Northern Ireland). She criminalised strikers and protesters and destroyed communities and decimated whole industries."
What the #CovidInquiry is demonstrating is that our political parties are systematically selecting as candidates, and subsequently promoting to office, people who are too facile, vacuous, shallow and vain to be trusted with running a whelk stall.
"Fuck what the Red Wall thinks, ....unless it's bigotry"
Starmer's attitude towards the North.
I am not sure #starmer actually makes these statements to win more votes - I think he's pointing where he is going when he is PM - & it is not to become "Thatcherite" as some hysterics are posting, given he also referenced Attlee and Blair - but intended to suggest he is firm of purpose - with I suspect a side-benefit of shaking off any lefties who still imagine #labour is there to indulge their dreams of creating a socialist utopia rather than govern with competence
This analysis of Keir Starmer's tactics is en pointe… he needs to stop trying to win votes, and focus on not losing them. However much he praises Thatcher, some people will never vote for him – but many may decide not to!
2/ Clement Attlee wrote Labour must be a party of duty & patriotism, not abstract theory."
#Starmer later said he was describing the "drift" of recent years with the "sense of mission" of previous leaders.
"It doesn't mean I agree with what Thatcher did, but I don't think anybody could suggest she didn't have a driving sense of purpose.
"We've declined as a country in the past 13 years, but Labour would bring through a driving sense of purpose."
1/ To be fair, here's what #Starmer actually said inc the context:
"Every moment of meaningful change in modern British politics begins with the realisation that politics must act in service of the British people, rather than dictating to them.
Margaret Thatcher sought to drag Britain out of its stupor by setting loose our natural entrepreneurialism.
Tony Blair reimagined a stale, outdated Labour Party into one that could seize the optimism of the late 90s...
The Papers: #Starmer's Thatcher backlash and PM on licence fee
Monday's papers look at the Labour leader's comments, as well as speculation over the licence fee.
Starmer loves telling everyone in advance just how utterly feeble and useless he intends to be...
Except when it comes to magically creating growth, by *not* investing in education, or infrastructure or a healthy workforce, but by.........um, saying "growth" many times and with his magic and omnipotent "laser focus"

Labour leader hires Margaret Thatcher as chief adviser
Anyone who disapproves is a Tory enabler
Due to concerns the Labour Party is only 21 points ahead in the polls, Sir Keir Starmer has hired Margaret Thatcher as his chief adviser. It is hoped that by digging Thatcher’s festering corpse out of the ground, enough of Labour’s base will hate him that he can win the approval of those who really matter
#Starmer is "leading" the Labour Party because money put him there.
For as long as I can remember, little cliques with access to loot have been putting their candidate at the top of the #Labour Party, so that any policy the membership decided democratically at Conference could just be dumped, in favour of what the money people want.
🚨*Starmer praises Thatcher in bid to woo Tories*🚨
Sir Keir praised the late Baroness Thatcher for effecting "meaningful change" in the #UK as she "sought to drag Britain out of its stupor by setting loose our natural entrepreneurialism".
The Papers: '#Starmer praises Thatcher' and Royals unite
Sunday's papers look at the continuing royal race row and the Labour leader's praise of Margaret Thatcher.

And that demonstrates Labour's swing to the right.
Starmer "outplays" Sunak
These people are clowns.
Cos-playing serious people while providing gossip and entertainment in the westminster "reality tv" - showbiz for ugly people
Politics IS NOT A FUCKING GAME of marbles - these muppets literally have the power of life and death over populations here and abroad
Read it and weep
On Biden & Trump. But I think Starmer could do with reading it as well.
"... to win elections you don’t just need to have a rational case that the other guy will be even worse than you on some issue of concern to voters. You need to get those voters _excited_ about coming out to vote for _you_. “The war crimes going on right now aren’t quite as bad as they would be if the other guy was in power” is unlikely to get that done."
You can't on the one hand claim to be progressive, and on the other be a simple echo chamber for people's media-induced prejudices.
Now of course, #Blair pulled that trick off once, mainly due to the dumb luck that sociopaths like him tend to have.
But why vote at all if all there is on offer are differing flavours of ignorance and hate?
Starmer: “Leadership is about doing the right thing. That is the least the public deserves. And the least that leadership demands.”
Starmer wouldn't know what leadership was if it hit him in the face. So much for the Labour Party that in the past would have said simply that bombing hospitals and killing children was wrong. Blair's corruption of the Party with the invasion of Iraq is complete.
Labour MP, Naz Shah shadow minister for crime reduction, goes against #Starmer, saying she will back the SNP's call for a ceasefire
Well done Naz x
So Keir Starmer will sack all of his shadow ministers that back the SNP Gaza ceasefire vote tomorrow
But do appreciate the difficult situation #Starmer is in. Since Sunak fired Braverman and open civil war has erupted in the Tory Party, the bar has really been raised on what it would take for the Labour Party to lose the General Election. Who even knows if firing all shadow-ministers that agree with the electorate on a ceasefire will be enough?

The Papers: PM summons Met chief and #Starmer fights for control
An ultimatum to the head of London's police force and a row within Labour over Gaza lead the papers.
I've just had an email from a friend who has been a Labour Party member for 45 years, an ex-councillor, and a recent council candidate.
She has always been on the left of the party and hung on in the hope she could make a difference.
She has finally made the decision to leave as there are virtually no policy areas where her views are represented. I quote:
"Starmer is despicable with a new low on his stance on this bombardment of Gaza by Israel".
#LabourParty #UKPolitics #Starmer #Gaza #Israel
So, Labour CLPs were instructed not to even discuss the Israel-Palestine bloodshed.
Not to even discuss it.
Elected officials have been told not to attend pro-Gaza protests.
Any mention of Gaza and immense suffering caused there, Labour HQ claims, could be "antisemitism".
We really need to ask who is behind this wheelbarrowing-out of the AS accusation, every time Israel becomes bloodthirsty. 'Labour Friends of Israel', a lobby group? Or Starmer's family bias?
Thiel is an arsehole but not an idiot.
"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."
I know that UK politics has totally turned to shit since 2016, but I honestly didn't have on my 2023 bingo card that the statement "war crimes that result in the deaths of thousands of civilians are bad" would turn out to be so controversial among the UK political classes.
Just stop for a moment… Imagine how Bill Clinton, then President of USA, along with most of the rest of the world would have reacted in this scenario:
Tony Blair, Labour PM of UK orders the immediate indiscriminate bombing of the city of Derry, killing thousands of civilians in the aftermath of the Omagh bombing by the ‘Real IRA’ in 1998. To be followed by humanitarian crimes in an invasion of the Irish border strongholds of nationalist terrorist ops.
