Let's start with a chapter of #Intercity history: The IC 118-119 #Bodensee was introduced in 2003, at this time the only through service between #Innsbruck 🇦🇹 and #Dortmund 🇩🇪 running via #Lindau, #Friedrichshafen and #Ulm.

From 11 June the loco-hauled service will be replaced by newer ICE4 sets. Timings of ICE 118-119 stay the same (no stops in Aulendorf and Göppingen anymore).

This Victorian water tower was built in 1885 and is now a haven for bats. It can be found in Bournemouth's Upper (Seafield) Gardens.

The gardens stretch for about 2km from just a few metres from the beach, to an ornamental koi pond further inland, and pass tennis courts, a rockery, war memorial and a series of giant outdoor murals.

I'm out of my rut and back to (mediocre) shooting again.

I now have a summer project in mind to get some better composed contrast shots of the arcades with shadows taken at the right time of day.

Last June night was one of the coldest in recent decades in northern and eastern Germany. Some records for the lowest temperature were even broken near the ground.

The cause was a fresh inflow of very dry polar air, which was able to cool down optimally in clear and windless conditions. The dry soils also played a role.

Two weeks later: We've eaten our way through much of the lettuce, with help from the chickens who got their share. Tomatoes and cucumbers coming along nicely.

It's too dry this season and the garden well is low, but not yet empty.

What a day. The greenness is still fresh as summer hereabouts comes with great whooshes and sudden arrivings. It can be cold at night and in the morning but when the clear, clean air is pierced with sunlight it is the most glorious feeling. Wild flowers don’t show off here. They play a secondary rôle. They hide in the grass and heather; then they wave at us with bursts of colour like tiny flags on a march or a demonstration in favour of joy.

Tiny yellow flowers sunset. A thick swirl of clouds and haze brings on the sunset a bit early. New Britain Reservoir, Southington, Connecticut. August 3, 2020, 6:47 PM.

We are alongside the shore of a lake. The flat ground in front of us is covered with small bright green leady shoots speckled with hundreds of little yellow flowers. Several dark gray boulders rise above this low ground cover in the foreground. The far lakeshore has a wide strip of these plants, which resemble grass from a distance. Beyond that strip, a low wooded ridge rises. The sun is low in the sky not far above that ridge, partially burning through the haze and looking enormous. The sky is a swirl of thin clouds and haze around the sun, tinted pale orange and gold. The sky and far shore are mirrored on the dead clam lake surface.
