Believe it or not, these beauties are still blooming as if it were summer, in suburban #melbourne #Australia.

Pictured in #NorthCaulfield, these #sunflowers are a delight. So vibrant and very soft to the touch.

Most #sunflower have long died off and only leaf remains (in urban gardens), but just look at these glorious heads.

The first sunflower of the year in my garden - a cheerful moment I wanted to share.

A volunteer from the bird feeder. They pop up all over the yard & I relocate them to more suitable corners out of the way of the lawn mower. And out of my veggie beds, lol.

Not quite fully opened yet. But I think there's something really lovely about catching sunflowers as they're opening. Just feels a bit magical.

A flying bumblebee is getting the full attention of two beautiful yellow sunflower blooms. Or is it the other way around? I think the attraction is mutual. And look at that bright blue sky, no cloud can be seen, looking forward to those summer days.

During the summer I stopped out at the sunflower field they had out at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"Wake Up and Follow the Sun"
I was actually scanning the canal that runs through Estero Llano Grande State Park in S Texas in search of Kingfishers that nest in cavities but as often happens, other #nature captured my attention. It was almost 9am on a beautiful April morning & this #Sunflower hadn't turned yet to follow the sun. Maybe a slow early morning mover like me :-)

A single bright yellow sunflower rises high in the morning light. The stem also has many green leaves and several new buds. The stems of the common sunflower is rough and hairy with coarsely toothed, rough leaves arranged in spirals. The attractive heads of flowers are 7.5–15 cm wide in wild specimens like this one. With the use of a shallow depth of field, the background of greenery appears very soft.

This year I #married the love of my life, a 🇩🇪 . It's a miracle we met during the pandemic. Germany was very strict about lockdown; we couldn't go to a restaurant for the first 6 months we dated, or anything else "out" but hiking. Once, we had to test negative to do that!

This in-progress #sunflower #painting is a symbol of us. I've spent ~65 hours on it so far. (Wish I'd done the background first.🙄)
