Trans Personen sind nicht erst seit Kurzem auf der Welt.

Uns gibt es mindestens schon, seitdem Homo sapiens existiert (und die Transfeindlichkeit entstand vermutlich beim ersten Auftauchen einer trans Person).

Ihr alle kennt trans Personen. Ja, Mehrzahl. Ja, auch Du.

Nur hast Du es vielleicht bisher einfach nicht gemerkt.

Und jede von Euch cis Frauen war schon mit einer trans Frau in einem Damen-WC. In einem Damen-Umkleideraum. In einer Damen-Dusche.

Und es ist Euch dabei in 99,9 % all dieser Zusammentreffen, wenn Ihr es denn überhaupt realisiert habt, genau gar nichts passiert.

Wir trans Frauen gehen nämlich schon seit Jahrzehnten auf Frauen-WCs, in Damen-Umkleiden/Duschen.

Das Selbstbestimmungsgesetz vermittelt den falschen Eindruck, insbesondere trans Frauen hätten bisher nicht im öffentlichen Raum und schon gar nicht in "Frauenräumen" existiert.

Und als gäbe es jetzt plötzlich einen Regelungsbedarf.

Und das ist eben Quatsch.

Durch das Selbstbestimmungsgesetz wird nicht eine trans Frau mehr als bisher schon solche Räume betreten.

Wir tun das seit Jahrzehnten - ganz unabhängig vom amtlichen Geschlechtseintrag.

Tatsächlich gibt es kein Gesetz, das regelt, wer ein Frauen-WC betreten und benutzen darf und wer nicht. Oder gar ein Gesetz, dass es etwa vom amtlichen Geschlechtseintrag abhängig sei.

Die Nutzung solcher Räume beruht seit jeher auf sozialen Absprachen, nicht auf Gesetzen. Einzig das Diskriminierungsverbot spielt hier eine Rolle - und kennt keine Ausnahmen, dass trans Frauen aufgrund ihres Trans-seins diskriminiert werden dürften. Erst das Selbstbestimmungsgesetz schafft hier nicht Klarheit, sondern Unsicherheit - zuungunsten ausschließlich von trans Frauen. Es schützt keine cis Frauen, aber schafft die Möglichkeit, trans Frauen zu diskriminieren.

Bisher hat das nie Probleme gegeben - abgesehen von Angriffen auf trans Frauen, die leider immer wieder vorkommen.

Cis Männer, die ein Frauen-WC betreten wollen, können dies übrigens tun, ohne sich als Frauen zu verkleiden oder gar den Geschlechtseintrag ändern zu lassen. Sie müssen nur die Tür öffnen und den Raum betreten. Zur Not reicht ein Wischmop oder ein Blaumann und eine Rohrzange, damit sie nicht einmal als Eindringlinge wahrgenommen werden.

Trans Frauen stehen oft unter Generalverdacht, der vor allem von Konservativen, Rechten und einer kleinen, aber lauten Gruppe radikaler Pseudo-Feministinnen, die sich ursprünglich TERFs nennen, bestärkt wird - das Selbstbestimmungsgesetz zementiert diesen Generalverdacht auf sehr problematische Weise und wird als starker "Pull-Faktor" für die Diskriminierung von trans Frauen fungieren.

1. A GRC is not an identlty document and it is discriminatory to ask for it.

2. The GR board does not hold information on GRCs it issues and can not issue a replacement

3. A GRC is, I repeat, not an ID document and is only part of a legal process which allowes certain other processes (sealing of your tax records) to happen.

Good news is that you can write a polite submission to the Australian Human Rights Commission (details in article) and tell them why they shouldn't. Be polite, tell them how it harms you or people you know, how it sets a terrible precedent, etc.

I think this makes a very fair point. I would add that cis males in positions of power tended to be wary of offending #terfs - and this may well have affected both the #bbc and the #guardian particularly! It would have been possible to get to a more balanced and nuanced position - as some people did elsewhere - even an alleged "Transphobe" as some have been kind enough to label me - but it needed cunning, guile and luck. Where I worked unpaid it was done but it was not easy.
