What a North London Derby! 🔥
Really tough away fixture at the Emirates and the honors are shared.
A hard test for us, going down twice and responding on both occasions. Came under heavy pressure after Maddison and Son went off but Spurs were able to stave off Arsenal's late flurry to secure the draw.
Really happy with the draw honestly. A tenacious performance, and a fixture we'd have probably once against lost last season. Solid result.
2-2 // #ARSTOT
This handball nonsense is getting out of hand and I'm fed up with seeing penalties given time and time again for point-blank, ball-to-hand scenarios where a defender's arms are in a natural position and the ball happens to get deflected onto the hand/arm.
It happened with Gomes and Wolves yesterday, now with Spurs today. No one that plays football wants to see them given when putting partisan team bias aside, and yet referees routinely point to the spot.
All square at the Emirates. Despite what Gary Neville says on commentary, it's been a fairly equal game with chances at either end. We've looked a little shaky at the back on one or two occasions but we deserved our goal to make it 1-1.
The own goal by Romero was certainly one of the more unfortunate OGs I've seen, but it happens.
Gonna be a spicy second half. 🌶️

Perisić, fantastic professional who’ll now work hard with one big target: Euro2024 with Croatia, feeling he can do it 🇭🇷
Wishing him speedy recovery!
I can't get over how much Manor Solomon reminds me of Aaron Lennon, the classic cut in and run across the edge of the box, even down to that little drop of the shoulder. Amazing likeness.
While on the subject of stirring the memory Yves Bissouma is blossoming into Mousa Dembele, and that is some compliment.
LOVED the spirit. LOVED seeing the stadium lift Richarlison then Richarlison lift the stadium.
I fancy us to win at the other place. There I've said it.
"They're good people mate. You don't discount that. They're not just footballers, they're all young men and part of my role is just to advise them and guide them along the way. There's nothing wrong with being a nice person. I think people relate to that you know,"
Excellent write-up Sam mate - thanks for putting it up. So good to hear the personal stories of people in the stadium. Don't see enough of that.
> "We had got what we deserved. Sheffield United had got what they deserved. The fact we got it in the minutes that were added on from their time wasting made it all the more sweet."
Perfectly put 👌😁
Football versus Anti-Football. Tottenham 2-1 Sheffield United. Spurs Reflections On The Train Home.
Well that was pretty epic. A short drive to the station for 9:45am. Not too early. Time enough to have a relaxed breakfast before leaving. A few beers each on the train (non-alcoholic ones for me) along with snacks I’d bought from FRONT the day before (having met and chatted to Geoff Hurst in there a further day before).
We made our predictions. Got both the starting …
Today was a win for front-foot football. It didn't look like it would be; it seemed as if the negative game - bus-parking and time-wasting - would triumph.
But justice was done in the most compelling of ways. Throughout so frustrating, but ultimately glorious. COYS!
I'm so pleased Richarlison got a crucial goal in this game. I hope this will prove to himself that he's capable and give him confidence.
I'm also pleased we won, obviously. If we didn't, I think there would have been a natural inclination by some to catastrophize a little which isn't necessary. We have a good system that's fun to watch, and Brennan Johnson already looks like an exciting prospect. Believe in #Angeball! @spurs
Really feeling like we're missing a striker now. Need someone in the box to get on the end of the many opportunities we've fired in. Was feeling worried when Ange played Son in the middle for this one against Sheffield and this is why.
Richarlison, Ivan, and Brennan coming on as anticipated.
Half time at Spurs, still tied up at 0-0. Honestly, we've not been playing poorly. Bit of a frustrating game though. Think Foderingham is lucky not to get a red for handling it outside of his area.
Spent long periods of time in their third of the pitch. If we keep at it, I can see us grabbing a couple of goals in the second half. @spurs

Wide ranging, often profound. Well worth a watch.
All those other managers we were linked with after Conte left: I'm starting to feel like we dodged a few bullets there. At this point, I couldn't be any happier with Ange. What an uncommon stroke of luck to get him.
When there are official videos published on the Spurs Twitter/X account, I've taken to archiving (using Internet Archive) the MP4 that is cached on my Mastodon server instead of linking to the original Twitter/X post. This hopefully makes a more stable and resilient link to the video.
Could one or two people reading this do me a favour and confirm the archived file works?

Many thanks 🙏
“Whatever Richarlison needs, we’ll help him get to the space he wants to get to”, says Ange Postecoglou ⚪️ #THFC
“He put it out there as he was quite emotional after the game and we will give him support he needs, but we do for all players. No one has a perfect life”.
Ali Gold: Richarlison opens up on off-field problems that have affected his form and makes Tottenham vow
"Richarlison has opened up on the off-the-field problems that have impacted him recently, including that tearful moment last week. Really positive stuff as the Brazilian says he's going to get psychological help and has vowed to impress at Spurs."
Good lad. He deserves our support.
Postecoglou on Bissouma: “I grabbed him and said: the way you've trained in the first 3 or 4 sessions, you can be a leader in this group”. ⚪️ #THFC

How Ange Postecoglou Has ALREADY Fixed Tottenham
> “So yeah, that's why Tottenham are all of a sudden the best team to watch in the Premier League, and unless you're an Arsenal fan or something you should probably be secretly rooting for them”
Romero reportedly injured on international duty
> Down with international breaks!
Not sure whether I'm surprised or unsurprised at the number of digs from Harry Kane at his old club here.
Unsurprised a player of his quality feels he should be winning every game.
Surprised he's being so forthright in expressing these feelings.
I like that he's making clear how he feels about Daniel Levy's lack of footballing ambition.
But I wonder if this slams the door shut on any potential return?
Postecoglou on Brennan Johnson: “He’s young, exciting player, ambitious guy. It's no secret that that's been the model for me, it’s about the person you're bringing in as the footballer”. ⚪️✨ #THFC
“He’s hungry, he wants to take his game to another level”.
We've looked so much more dangerous with Son at number 9. Solomon has also had a great game in his first start.

EXCL: Tottenham considering possible move for Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth in last 24h 🚨⚪️ #THFC
No formal bid/concrete yet as depends on outgoings, Spurs need players to leave.
Bournemouth would need to replace Kelly, not easy; also Eric Dier could be offered as part of deal.
AS Monaco are currently not working on Davinson Sánchez deal with Spurs despite reports. ⚪️🔴❌ #THFC
Monaco still want Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham but deal remains difficult. Talks continue.
Japhet Tanganga, now close to joining German side Augsburg on loan deal from Tottenham 🚨🟢 #THFC
Loan move will also include buy option clause, being discussed right now.
Official, confirmed. Dane Scarlett has joined Ipswich Town on loan deal from Tottenham 🔵✍🏻 #THFC
Inter have not submitted any formal bid for Tanguy Ndombele yet, just asked for conditions of the deal — waiting for the internal decision ⚪️🇫🇷 #THFC
🇹🇷 Galatasaray remain keen on signing Ndombele in case any European loan deal collapses.
Contacts between Tottenham and Barça for Ansu Fati continue. Spurs working on Brennan Johnson deal — waiting for the final decision. ⚪️ #THFC
Ansu Fati, loan move. Brennan Johnson has to be permanent. Tottenham have to decide in 24h.
Genoa are pushing to convince Tanguy Ndombele and sign him on loan from Tottenham. Negotiations already advanced between clubs 🔴🔵 #THFC
Spurs want to find solution for Ndombele by Friday but it's up to the player now as Genoa made their best effort.
Understand Tottenham are now in contact with Barça to negotiate for Ansu Fati deal on loan until June 2024. ⚪️🇪🇸 #THFC
Discussions about conditions of the deal but Barça want 100% of the salary covered.
Ansu, also presented to Chelsea as opportunity but no former approach yet.
Spurs lose on penalties and are out.
This was frustrating. With no European football this season, this was a good chance for a cup run. It was a realistic chance for silverware and it wasn't taken seriously. This was either naivete or, dare I say, some arrogance.
Making 9 changes like that might have worked against Championship opposition or lower, but against another Premier League team you're rolling the dice and loading it in their favor.
Apparently the colour is taupe, which means "mole". How appropriate. This lot might as well have hidden underground for all the presence they've had.
It's been too easy for Fulham to attack our wide areas.
Forster the only bright side of a dismal first half.
Ange Postecoglou, happy with Giovani Lo Celso to stay at Tottenham. Positive feedback on Argentine midfielder who’s likely to continue at Spurs ⚪️🇦🇷 #THFC
It’d take an important bid to change club stance on Lo Celso in the final days.
Brentford have currently left conversations for Brennan Johnson focusing on different targets, Tottenham are prepared to insist in talks with Forest ⚪️✨ #THFC
Spurs already held positive talks on player side and now discussions waking place on clubs side.
A quick Mastodon tip (pls boost if you can).
If you put your hashtags on the last line of your post with a linebreak above and nothing else other than hashtags in that last line, then Mastodon tidies those hashtags into a neat little footer, which makes posts look a lot less cluttered.
This is a new feature in Mastodon 4.2 so you may not see it yet depending on what version your instance is running.
Tottenham, prepared to approach Nottingham Forest for Brennan Johnson this week. Ange Postecoglou has already approved this potential move ⚪️ #THFC
Not easy deal as Forest already rejected big proposals but interest in Brennan is growing now.
[Tifo IRL] What went wrong for Man Utd against Tottenham?
This is well worth your time. Some great tactics discussion on how Ange changed things tactically in the second half to get the better of Ten Hag's men.
Particularly interesting how, yet again, they discuss this issue of our wide forwards not fitting the profile for Ange's system. Makes you wonder if our wingers were a better fit, it would unlock Richarlison.
"That's a £100m player.”
Been thinking EXACTLY the same.
I am very worried Levy will have £££ signs in his eyes if these players do *too* well. We spent around £180m on Maddison, Biss, Udogie, Porro, Sarr and van de Ven and if they continue like this, they're going to be double, triple, quadruple that by the end of the season.
An excellent start to Caicedo's £115m Chelsea career. Whoops. 🟥
Maddison cost us £40m
Bissouma cost us £25m
Sarr cost us £15m
All three combined cost less than the crazy money paid for Caicedo and Rice. And arguably just as good.
I've been working hard to build a community around my football team. Key seems to be relentless posting and replying and boosting around key hashtags and groups (Mastodon could do much more to help with tagging btw). It doesn't grow by itself, you gotta *build* it. Still early days – green shoots – but it's growing.
I think he's decided to stay.
More I think about it, the more it makes no sense whatsoever for him to go now.
The noise about him being open to a move came at a time when he didn't know if Ange (or whoever) would feel right. It came at a time of great turbulence and uncertainty. Anyone in a similar situation would hedge their bets and prepare an exit strategy.
Levy accepting must be a front to save face and appease JL. Maybe we'll never know.
I can see Kane turning down Bayern.
If rumours are true and another huge club (can only assume Real) has said they're in for him next season on an even bigger wage than he'll get in Germany, then that would be huge for him. No downside.
1. Gets to go to a big club and win trophies, no doubt
2. Gets more money
3. One last (potentially fun) season with his boyhood club
4. It'll be sweet to make Levy sweat about him going for free.
Why would he go now?

Alejo Véliz to Tottenham, here we go!
"Veliz doesn't contribute much off the ball, noted in that he averaged just 15.6 passes and 0.6 key passes per 90 this campaign, yet when presented with the chances to hit the back of the net, the Argentine is lethal. "
Given the amount of chances we've generated in the pre-season games (I know, I know, it's only pre-season), his "lethal" finishing could be just what the doctor ordered. 😋

Still early days, but interesting times.
But, man-alive, we badly need those CBs
Worth a re-read of this Telegraph article from a few days back in the fresh light of Joe Lewis's indictment.
Son is a living legend.
Ali Gold: “Some wondered why Son did not have the surgery earlier in the campaign for a problem that was clearly hampering him. It's a simple answer, he did not want to abandon Tottenham for what would have been a lengthy spell while they were struggling to perform under Antonio Conte.”
Interesting that "Athletic Ware" advertising spend is "only" down 32% on Twitter. My guess is that sports followers are still a strong cohort there.
But with figures like this, it seems that Twitter is in a death spiral.
To put this in context, here's Chris Cowlin on talkSPORT
Check out the summary at 9:40.
"Chris always sounds positive, but on today's call I thought it was more panic, now. Panic stations."
"In the end, in the final minute of our conversation there, it turned into a plea didn't it. We need defenders and we have none".
You only have to look at the replies on that thread to see just how tone deaf the media team are. Levy should replace them as a priority and get in people that actually understand football, understand fans, understand social media. This lot understand nothing. I doubt they're even fans themselves. Probably just some PR agency staff.
I feel all hope evaporating when the official shiny turd peddlers are offering us this:
What the actual fuck?
I don't hate Dier - he seems like a nice enough guy and wish him well - but to put out stuff like this *now* as if he's some sort of living club legend and saviour is so utterly tone deaf it's unbelievable. It's like the shiny turd peddlers are living in an alternate reality.
Can only hope and 🙏 he somehow comes good under Ange. 😬
