With today's deadline for candidates to register, January's presidential #elections in #Taiwan are moving a whole lot closer.
As predicted by me earlier on, opposition parties #KMT and #TPP could not agree on a common ticket. Too much feel of self-importance on both sides there.
As for the running mates, the choices are very telling: #KoWenje has gone for an offspring of one of Taiwan's richest dynasties, #HouYuih has opted for deep-blue reactionary #JawShaukong.

Donald Trump promised to withdraw from #TPP on his first day in office. He kept that promise and an awful lot of workers kept their jobs at least for a little while longer.
Misogyny may well have been a factor in the 2016 election, but it serves a particular #VoteBlueNoMatterWho (#VBNMW) agenda to exaggerate its role. When we follow the advice in this agenda, we get the likes of Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who should, by all rights, be Republicans.
