I have spent the last three years developing and designing a table-top roleplaying game. It takes heavy influence from George Orwell's (yeah, he is a bit of a douchebag) book 1984. It is a game about resistance against hegemonic repression and oppression. It is a game about the necessity of resistance even when it seems futile. It is, to me, a game that expresses some kind of hopeful message.
I am a one-person project in general, but for this specific game, I have had a friend be my editor. I am also someone who has been involved in anarchist organizing since the early 2000s and this has influenced my design.
In many ways the game is autobiographical and I have incorporated the feelings of loss and failure that it is easy to get when fighting against the hydra of state and capital today. At the end of the day, the game is a dystopian portrayal of the world but it is still at its core an anti-authoritarian game. I think many of you will find it interesting and engaging. And from the many playtests I also believe that you will have a meaningful and good time playing the game.

I think there is no new content (other than the cover art/box)
I do have the rights to keep printing up to 200 copies of the AGA--CATTITASMN games in future per year. So I can keep making stuff and release a few copies to fans, without worrying about ONLY making noisy creatures that are mass-market-suitable. These will probably be sold via KS/UKGE/my online shop.

So the tension mechanic is the heart of the system. In general, it's a GM meta point pool, while also being a difficulty check.
So, as 1s are rolled and tension generated by players, they know both that they're giving the GM more points to spend on adversary abilities but also tasks against the environment get more difficult.

New functionality:
- Selection of rooms by click on them.
- Highlighting the active room
- Tool to split a wall, instead of only being able to edit the last wall
- Undo mechanism. Can be used over multiple session.
Learnings:
* A lot of overhaul and reworking. Turns out using traits for my command structure is really cumbersome. Far easier to implement with an Enum.

Despite me being an absolute performance addict beyond reason, I have decided not to write my dice roller entirely in C++, for now. At least not until Godot 4.2 comes out, which brings hot-reloading to GDExtension.
GDScript is slow, and I really hate wasting people's CPU cycles, but prototyping the game logic is just so much quicker because it's right in the editor and changes are applied immediately.
I am also certain that I will be able to convert GDScript to GDExtension C++ fairly easily, because all I do is call engine functions, basically. It's just a matter of translating the syntax.
Last but not least, It would make a nice case study to directly compare the same implementations in GDScript and GDExtension C++.

Most illustration styles could be explored farther imo.
Pointillism. Abstraction. Flat colours with paper textures. Mixing photos with illustration. weird limitations like potato print, or making it all look like it's super-low-polygon-count.
In this world, being different can make folk hate on you. Making your illustration different will result in negative reviews.
But it'll also help you stand out.
And I think that (as long as you aren't doing any harm), being hated isn't an issue. Being ignored will probably lead to fewer sales.
Actually, one thing I will say is that folk who are super-into something probably have a higher desire for novelty. So whilst I'd love to see the potato print game, you might be mainly appealing to folk who are bored of 'standard' illustrations at that point.

Anyone I know actually keep or have access to a full set of White Dwarf magazines? I'd really like a scan (for research use!) of the ending article with the results from the Nemesis Crown campaign in 2007, and that's apparently not an easy thing to find PDFs of online.

#Cyberpunk2077 #phantomliberty is for sure the best dlc that I touched since FROMSOFTWARE released dls for #DarkSouls3 - for sure better story than in original game, Idris Elba is just great and gameplay is awesome. I love #cyberpunk since I played #ttrpg #tabletop #cyberpunk2020 and yeah, cool times. Also #netflix #Edgerunners had great story.
September in #tabletop #gaming. I think Tsuro is the highlight of the month, but Robot Arena was pretty nifty too. And I still like Long Shot, while @bunkeroftruth never wavers from her love of Valley of the Kings.

Last evening, we played our first game of Habitat, 3rd edition.

Other than my initial confusion over some scoring, the rules are generally quite reasonable and easy to grasp.
Pick a tile, place a tile to attempt to score points based on animal habitat needs. Repeat.
We did like the aspect of using a meeple to select tiles to play rather than just picking from a pile.
Overall, recommended.
