I feel that not letting teachers strike violates the First Amendment of the #US #constitution because teachers are trying to use their free speech and demand for better treatment.

THE TEACHER AS HERO
They say write what you know...I spent my professional life as a teacher. I know a lot about the academic life.
Why would a teacher have adventures? Teachers may be homegrown (and fed up with local problems) or outsiders or at least newcomers to a community (teachers often take jobs in faraway places). Teachers are sometimes in the middle of a conflict between parts of a community with different goals--students, other teachers, school administrators, parents, community leaders, etc. Teachers may be motivated to get involved in something due to concern for students, colleagues, and/or community. Teachers are smart and curious people who may stick their noses into problems or mysteries.
Suffice that I've started work on a new project with a teacher as the hero. Only time will tell, but right now it feels like it is going somewhere. Wish me luck.

My 5th form science teacher was fired by the nuns for wearing a gorilla costume in a lesson about evolution. He also taught us about resource depletion and loads of other useful stuff that raised awareness of the environment. And he made it relevant and fun. Hands down, my all-time favourite moment in virtual visits came this morning when the kids shared their story ideas.
After a shy grade four girl told me her idea, her teacher came on the Zoom to say that the girl was newly arrived from Ukraine and was just learning English.
The fact that the girl was eager enough to stand in front of the class to read her idea filled my heart with joy and reminded me why I do this.

Over this weekend I saw a couple of friends (separately) who are #teachers, and both are unsurprised by the contempt shown for the profession in the leaked #MattHancock WhatsAp messages, but equally were pretty grim that their suspicions about ministers' views had been vindicated...
Both suggested a lack of teachers (more leaving the profession than joining) was directly related to this contempt from this #Tory govt.
