I'm listening to @TheWarOnCars episode "Dark PR" and it occurred to me that when it comes to road deaths and such the procedure for finding a solution is backwards compared to workplace incidents. For workplaces the hierarchy is to first try and engineer the problem away so the hazard doesn't exist. Next is PPE, and lastly is education (policy changes to minimise the hazard)
With incidents that happen on the street the first thing (if anything happens at all) is putting up signs asking drivers to slow down. It's arse-about compared to how it should be. #thewaroncars #urbanism #cycling
This was the point in my #FakeCommute at which my phone ran out of data, rudely interrupting an episode of #TheWarOnCars while walking in -3° feels like -5° according to the Met Office.
I didn’t help myself to any of the three #FreeCars available near my home that were left on street with keys in the ignition and engine running, though I was sorely tempted to turn them off.
Saw a blackbird, jackdaws and crows; heard robins, sparrows and wren.
A good morning walk.
In the ongoing fight to get a safe street in my neighborhood, my local #RadicalBikeLobby organized an effort to block our local council member’s blatant attempt to stop #CompleteStreets on the street and to circumvent all the plans that had passed City Council in the past.
It’s a big win for safer streets in #Berkeley and lets us see which members of the council are on the right side of #TheWarOnCars. It’s been six years, but maybe we’ll get a safer #Hopkins yet.

I love in a town where the Bike Advocates we have, have washed their hands of trying to do anything in town... Our City Council got overrun with conservative, regressive, goons who are dead set against doing anything close to #VisionZero... So they organize rides and try to take credit for, things that are happening in The County.
Part of me wants to try to start a Shifter style vlog... To maybe just maybe try to generate a little advocacy... But another part of me figures, the world doesn't need another middle aged white guy, spouting his opinions on the internet...

The de Young Museum has seen a 124% increase with JFK only open to people, and not cars. This was fought hard by the Museum, but it’s one more sign that cars are bad for business, it’s the people that matter.
We #urbanists should really start including #privacy and personal data security in our #PublicTransit and #cycling sales pitches.

There's a motion to study how to allow e cargo bikes the right to take up street parking space even without the city requiring them to be licensed (Thanks to a rage email from yours truly and a pic of a car taking up long term street space). They want to think about life, universe, and everything of course. The Manager of Transportation Policy and Innovation is the person on this file.
If you own a cargo bike, or wanted to get one, but couldn't because of lack of space to get one, please email him with your story so he can think about how to proceed with this.
