When I think about #SurveillanceCapitalism online I see it as looking for people's #vulnerabilites to exploit. Exactly the same thing cybercriminals do to break into systems. And when cybercriminals do it nobody has a doubt it is crime. But for some reasons doing the same thing with minds and emotions is perfectly legal.
Current #internet is designed like one big con, with attempts to trick people into clicking things they might not want themselves.
When I hear about programs to help elderly people with going online I have mixed feeling because od this. Because the internet is mostly made of the same things we want to protect them from. And advertisers aren't much better than scammers calling elderly people and inviting them to presentations with overpriced pots sales.

Man muss heutztage schon sehr bewusst #Google (und #FontAwesome) aus (s)einer Webseite entfernen.
Ich habe alle meinen Seiten so konfiguriert, dass sie Googlefrei sind und auch sonst nichts extern nachgeladen wird.
Alles andere emfpinde ich als Nogo.
Leider interessiert das die Meisten Ersteller von Webseiten nicht die Bohne. Die nutzen ja auch selbt Google, weil Suchmaschine = Google. Heißt ja auch "googeln" und nicht "nach Informationen suchen" 🤦♂️ (Teil des Probems).
Für alle, denen #Datenschutz und Schutz vor #Tracking wichtig ist, bleibt nur #digitaleSelbstverteidigung mit #BrowserAddons wie #uBlockOrigin und #Noscript.
Aber auch hier arbeitet Google ja mit Hochdruck daran, dies so weit wie möglich unmöglich zu machen, weil man dann nichts mehr angezeigt bekommt 😠🤮

You can also add your own rules for how to deal with parameter values.
Currently it requires a extension like ViolentMonkey (or TamperMonkey which decided to go closed-source) to work.
If people like this and find it useful, then I'll probably add a UI, and maybe make a standalone browser add-on.

Gibt ja auch Angebote, die immer noch nur #werbefinaziert sind - selbst da muss man oft ein Konto erstellen. Wozu, wenn es da nicht um #Tracking geht?
Grundsätzlich wandert neben den beiden bekannten Browsern auch stets #qutebrowser auf die Rechner. Bislang tat ich mich jedoch mit dessen Bedienung schwer, obwohl ich in den letzten Jahren ja vermehrt auf Konsolenprogramme setze. Wo aber die beiden "Großen" immer mehr zu aufgeblähten Monster werden, die nicht nur GBs an Arbeitsspeicher vereinnahmen, sondern auch immer schwieriger zu kontrollieren sind, habe ich im System gerade qutebrowser als Standard definiert.
Auch wenn dieser Blocklisten integriert hat, fühle ich mich ohne #uBlock trotzdem ziemlich ungeschützt dem massenhaften #Tracking ausgeliefert. Die fehlende #KeePass Integration werde ich wohl mit etwas mehr copy&paste überleben. Mal sehen, ob ich es diesmal durchhalte 😉

Die Suche nach einem Ersatz verläuft leider ernüchternd. RSS wird entweder nicht angeboten (und lässt sich auch nicht im Quelltext finden) oder die Webseite ist ähnlich "verseucht" - was im Grunde für alle gilt.
Und zum wiederholte Male klargestellt: ich bin nicht gegen Werbung – die Anbieter sollen Geld verdienen –, nur dieses überflüssige #Tracking ist abartig.

The new "Copy Link Without Site Tracking" on Firefox 120 doesn't work well.
Take this Lemmy post for example: https://lemmy.world/post/8792698 Someone posted a YouTube link with some ID affixed to it. "Copy Link Without Site Tracking" doesn't get rid of it. The ClearURLs extension does.
Ironically, I've only seen "Copy Link Without Site Tracking" work when removing tracking from Firefox's own links. Check screenshot.

Dieser neue Login funktioniert nicht mehr, wenn man im Firefox Addon NoScript google.com geblockt hat. Sobald das erlaubt wird funktioniert der Login. Ich finde es eine Frechheit, als zahlender User der SZ, den Login nur mit dem Tracking von Google zu ermöglichen.

A new report by Amnesty International documents how the Israeli government is using an experimental facial recognition system to track Palestinians and control their movements.
The findings are part of “Automated Apartheid,” which reveals an ever-growing surveillance network of cameras in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron and in East Jerusalem — two places in the Occupied Territories where Israeli settlements are expanding within Palestinian areas.
“Surveillance has been ramping up as illegal settler activity has also been ramping up,” says Amnesty researcher Matt Mahmoudi, who adds that the surveillance technology is part of an overall coercive structure used against Palestinians by Israel.
“Effectively, facial recognition is augmenting, reinforcing, entrenching aspects of apartheid.”

Google geht nun massiv gegen Nutzer vor, die AdBlocker auf YouTube einsetzen. Für 12,99 € kann man mit YouTube Premium die Werbung abschalten. Das schließt allerdings das Tracking durch Google nicht mit ein. Wer also YouTube werbe- und trackerfrei konsumieren möchte, kann auf folgende Alternativen zurückgreifen. 👇

Auch deswegen nutze ich YouTube nicht direkt, sondern Links über @invidious* oder nutze es mobil via @newpipe*, um Videos zu sehen und so weit frei vom Tracking zu sein. Leider sind noch nicht sehr viele anregende Videoproduktionen im Fediverse zB auf @peertube vertreten.

Instagram und Facebook gibt es demnächst für zehn Euro monatlich. Dafür entfällt die Werbung. Das Tracking und die Analyse des Nutzerverhaltens aber bleibt. Die Browserfunktion"Do Not Track" ist rechtlich nicht irrelevant. Das hat das Landgericht Berlin bestätigt. Folge leisten muss man ihr aber trotzdem nicht.

#Google arbeitet weiter an seiner Unabdingbarkeit! Man will Webseitenbetreibern die IP-Adressen verwehren indem der #chrome hier einen Proxy davor schaltet. Nachdem die #Adblocker beschnitten wurden, die User jetzt fürs #tracking "in Kategorien einsortiert" werden und das ja so klasse "selber verwalten" können, nun das.
Am Ende kann nur noch #Google die #Daten sinnvoll zusammenführen und lässt sich das dann fürstlich bezahlen.

Recently, YouTube's "Share" function started giving out links with a ?si= tracker thingies (query strings), such as https://youtu.be/gShM9k9hcgo?si=843Oz0aWHpzF2X9h. Presumably, YouTube is using this to see who shared the link when someone clicks on a shared link. I noticed this because the youtu.be links, both the ones I generate by clicking "Share" and the ones I get from my friends, suddenly have become a lot longer since a couple weeks ago. If you ever share a youtu.be link with your friends, please delete the stuff after ?si= and ?si= itself before sending it!

Die #DeutscheBahn arbeitet gerade aktiv daran, das Reisen/ #Mobilität mit ihren Angeboten für alle Menschen einzuschränken bzw. massiv zu verteuern, die nicht ihre persönlichen Daten herausgeben und sich nicht von Konzernen und Staat überwachen oder sich allgemein nicht in die Abhängigkeit von Smartphones/Apps im öffentlichen Raum begeben wollen oder können.
So gibt es die "#Sparpreis"-Tickets der #Bahn zukünftig nur noch als digitales Ticket, für das Handynummer oder E-Mail (und zukünftig die "digitale Identität"?) verlangt werden. Auch am Automaten sollen diese Angebote weiter verschwinden.
Währenddessen werden auch das 49€-Ticket und die Bahncards zunehmend nur noch mit #Digitalzwang ausgegeben.
Was von den Verantwortlichen gerne mit "Verbesserung des Angebots" oder einem hohlen "das ist zeitgemäßer als Papier" werbegerecht verkauft oder sogar grüngewaschen wird, ist nichts anderes als ein weiterer Schritt in den totalen #Überwachungskapitalismus, in dem auch das analoge Leben der Menschen vollkommen getrackt und ihre Daten zum Profit anderer verwertet werden sollen.
Auch sind damit kapitalistische "Optimierungen", sprich Abbau von Angeboten der Bahn und ähnliches auf Kosten der Menschen durchsetzbarer.

Das Projekt privacy is sexy stellt verschiedene Skripte zur Verfügung, mit denen nicht nur die Datensammlung von Windows reduziert, sondern auch unnötige Bloatware oder nicht genutzte Dienste deaktiviert werden können. Die Befehle werden kopiert/heruntergeladen und dann über das Windows-Terminal ausgeführt. Bei Bedarf können die Änderungen auch wieder rückgängig gemacht werden. 👇
