Young men (17-24) drivers double the risk of death or serious injury than young women drivers. Most age groups (25+) at much lower risk, and similar across genders.
BUT...
From age 70+ risk (per miles travelled) climbs again, with women much higher risk. Drivers over 86 comparable to young men!

For young drivers, least well off most high risk. For older drivers, most affluent most high risk.

Most of us would welcome less potholes (don't get me wrong), but the transfer of funds from a pubic transport project to maintenance of #infrastructure that supports car journeys is not really quite the right direction if one is serious about #climatechange actions... but then the #Tories aren't!
It's time to defend and advance New Zealand's public transport again.
Given how drivers around here "merge like a zip", we can reasonably conclude that they have really interesting ways of putting on a pair of pants. And maybe the consequent discomfort explains why they're so aggressive on the road.
@futuresprog @Rjdlandscapes On the weekend I did some calculations on this. At the moment Aotearoa-New Zealand is at 2.35 motor vehicles per household. That's #2 per capita for countries with over a million people.
If we can get that to 2.41, which is just one more car for every 16 households, NZ will beat the US for the top spot in the world.

Kupienie kartonikowego biletu nie jest „skomplikowane”. Rzekoma konieczność skanowania dwóch kodów QR w metrze to brednia. Osoby które już używają apek do kupowania biletów obecnie mogą łatwo korzystać z nich jadąc do innego miasta, bez dodatkowych kont, i nie jest to „pracochłonne” — polega na pacnięciu w ekran.
Obecnie, gdy ktoś przyjeżdża do Warszawy i chce pojechać metrem czy tramwajem, robi to co w każdym normalnym mieście — kupuje bilet. Może to zrobić mając tylko garść monet w kieszeni, a jeśli ma jakąś apkę do kupowania biletów w swoim mieście, to pewnie może to zrobić też w niej.
Jak to ma wyglądać w tym nowym systemie? Osobie stojącej na przystanku trzeba będzie powiedzieć: „och, nie może pani jechać tramwajem, co pani sobie wyobraża, przecież najpierw musi pani przejść procedurę zakładania centralnego konta w specjalnym systemie do śledzenia pasażerów”?

#Travelling by #train in #Europe can be a nightmare. On this year's holidays we wanted to reduce our #CarbonFootprint by travelling by train (instead of travelling by other more polluting means of #transport). The idea was to use night trains and #Interrail to travel. But from Galicia I would have to travel hundreds of kilometres on an inefficient train, and France does not have many night trains. And buying #tickets and checking #timetables was a nightmare. So this time we decided to travel by car and not too far.
