Now that Strada is out, I'll start working on an update to The Rails and Hotwire Codex.
The changes will cover Rails 7.1 improvements, Sidekiq 7, and of course, Strada.
This will be a free update for everyone who's bought the book.

Funnily enough #turbo is the first project in a long time where I would consider taking a dependency on it. I’ll probably just stick to my own equivalents (I hate dependencies), but it’s clear that Turbo is more complete than what I have currently and covers some of the direction I want to go. I wouldn’t have looked at it without the type kerfuffle.
I haven’t used Turbo, but looks useful. Based on what I’ve read, it seems like API use is not the primary mechanism for interacting with Turbo. It’s more about using HTML elements and attributes to control the behaviour. So I imagine that types are less useful to consumers than they would be for many projects. An interesting decision.

The #Python web dev community has been experimenting with « HTML over the wire » / « Hypermedia driven applications » for the past year, with tools like #htmx or #Hotwire #Turbo.
It looks like we are entering a coalescence / convergence phase, with practices and common solutions arising. The era of SPA hegemony is ending and folks are settling on simpler stacks for the 90% of use case where SPA is overkilled and HTML-first apps with modest JS sprinkles for interactivity is well enough. 2 / 2

I have this weird brainworm for a #Turbo mirror where it listens for changes to the DOM and then pushes those changes to peers via web sockets as a way to near-serverlessy replicate DOM state across devices.
This would really only be good for things like board or card games, where you want a lot of shared UI elements synced across player devices; but it could be really neat?

This is where I quite like #Turbo, it allows you to add bits of interactivity that are specifically linked to action verbs that form the rhythm of a web app.
What is unclear to me is if you are writing code for a different target i.e. mobile alongside web, there is still an advantage in writing javascript to target frontend/backend/mobile. On this point all 👀 are on #Strada
Installed `jsbundling-rails` and `stimulus-rails` for a project that's using #Stimulus + #Turbo streams to wrangle our #jQuery spaghetti.
Much less painful than I anticipated!
`jsbundling-rails`:
1. Builds your assets in a different thread
2. Shovels them to a gitignored folder
3. Adds the gitignored folder to the #Sprockets lookup path
Next step is moving the #Sprockets compiled JS into #esbuild so we can rely on `import` statements rather than `//= require`
