This processing plant opened in the 1960s to recycle waste from the nearby steel works. For nearly 40 years, the tall Blue Tower crushed, screened, and processed waste coke day and night. Specifically, this facility produced synthetic graphite from blast furnace coke waste.

The tall structure cast a shadow on the surrounding houses, a reminder of the region’s long history of steel production. The nearby blast furnace was torn down in 2016. The Blue Tower/Orange Factory followed it into memory with its demolition in 2021.

New urbex video on my YouTube channel
1942/43 wurde in Wintermoor das Gesundungshaus Wintermoor von sowjetischen und polnischen Zwangsarbeitern gebaut und am 8. Februar 1943 eröffnet. Es diente als Hamburger Ausweichkrankenhaus. Im Juli 1943 wurde das Krankenhaus erweitert. Es standen Abteilungen für Innere Medizin, Infektions- und Lungenkrankheiten, Chirurgie sowie ein Röntgenlabor, mehrere Operationsräume und eine Apotheke zur Verfügung.

Abandoned theatre in England
It was built at the end of the 19th Century, when I visited this place it was in an exceptionally dilapidated state of repair. The roof had collapsed, and the floor was rotting and splintering.
This photo was taken a few years ago, the theater has since suffered a fire which has brought the curtain down for the last time.

There is an old oak tree known as the Chained Oak that stands in the woods of northern England. Ancient, sturdy chains have been wrapped around the tree limbs. As well as being a beautiful tree in a stunning part of England, the tree plays a key role in an interesting piece of English folklore.

Downstairs the house has some beautiful woodwork, a joy to photograph in the soft afternoon light. Many of the walls are wood panelled. Each room has many feature fireplaces; this must have been a very cosy home! The main stairs are stunning!

Tucked away in the English countryside lies an #abandoned Rockstar Mansion. The Tudor-style mansion has lay abandoned since the mid-2000s.
The onset of decay is starting to creep across the house in some areas, with peeling wallpaper and cracking paint in some rooms and corridors on the upper floor.

The last four photos from my walk around the breezeway at the abandoned administration building on the #Alameda Naval Air Station. The three interior shots were taken through broken, boarded up windows, in some cases with metal screens over them. The iPhone 15 Pro did an amazing job of pulling out color and detail in very dark spaces.
The sticker was on a window. Seemed kind of redundant on a navy base.

As I walked around the breezeway of the abandoned administration building on the #Alameda Naval Air Station, I found partially hidden little areas and also the main entrance with its painted signs still mostly intact.
Interesting to see “Welcome Aboard” used - makes me wonder whether the US Navy considers postings to a NAS as equivalent to postings to a ship (the UK Royal Navy does something similar).

Some urban exploration this morning while waiting for my daughter’s football (aka soccer) game to start. The gate into the breezeway around the NAS admin buildings was open, so I walked the whole thing, taking photos along the way. In places, windows were broken allowing a peek inside, and the iPhone camera did a great job of pulling color from the darkness.

The Unfinished Aquarium occupies a prime stretch of Lebanese seafront, a tall concrete cylinder in limbo after work halted in the mid-1970s.

This cute chapel was a tabernacle located in a picturesque village in Wales. The chapel had clearly been #abandoned for some time, as the woodland had enveloped it. The chapel and its path were completely hidden when viewed from the road. The only tell tale sign of the chapel was the small gate, which betrayed the position of the path through the trees.
