What can you do with all this RAW POWER? There was a quick mention that it could scan your room. That it could overlay stuff in places, that you could do some fitness thing? And leave some digital objects lying around the place for reasons that would be cool and awesome. Now, the funky room scanning is potentially quite interesting. The ability to have a 3d space where digital objects can exist along side real world things also possibly interesting. Especially considering the #Apple #VisionPro

#Apple calls its 3D video "Spatial Video", but it's just 3D video, right? If so, and the only way you're ever going to experience the 3D video and photos of, say, your loved ones, is through their £3.5k #VisionPro goggles, then fuck 'em.
Don't see why I can't use my 3rd party VR headset, or even convert to anaglyph and use cardboard specs that come free with magazines sometimes.

I’ve been giving pointers to friends getting into visionOS dev. Observing their experience and hearing their frustration with Xcode really validates what we’re trying to do here @ #volumetrics.

Tim Cook said the response to Apple Vision Pro has been "amazing", but is it just me or has it not been amazing at all? Like as soon as I saw the price tag they lost me. And I feel like most people I've interacted with have said the same thing.
A lot of re-hashing of features and functions at #Apple’s special event today. For instance, #AppleWatch accessibility options with double tap have been around for two years now. @parisinla brings up a good point in that this “new” double tap feature coming to Apple Watch Series 9 is prepping people for #VisionPro.
Still though, I am surprised the news hasn’t been highlighting the simple fact that — you don’t need to purchase a new Series 9 to have some of these features and functionality that’s already available today to Series 4 owners and up.
It's interesting that #Apple brought the thumb-and-forefinger tap to the #AppleWatch. I had only seen that on the #VisionPro demo, so I wonder which product influenced which product?

And that's the thing that I was looking for from the Vision Pro announcement - being able to record spatial videos without having a stupid headset on. That's going to really drive Vision Pro adoption when Apple can get the prices down to a more reasonable level.
Capturing spatial video on iPhone 15 Pro is another shoe dropping on Vision Pro. That awkward scene in the WWDC video with the dad wearing Vision Pro at the birthday party? You don't actually have to do that.

Double Tap is interesting. Seems useful, but also feels like a subtle way to keep Vision Pro concepts front and center. Hand gesture–based controls that don't rely on your hands being on a button or control surface seem like a cool idea, anyhow, and maybe this always would have come, but it looks a lot like the Vision Pro gestures we saw this summer.

And one moment stands out to me that a lot of tech bloggers who wanted to be the first to say something.
A lot of people pointed out how cringe the #Apple #VisionPro looked when looking at it as an outside observer.
Most didn’t even use the device "face on”.
But all of them failed to mention that NO ONE WILL PROBABLY SEE YOU USE THE DAMN THING!
If they do, it’s for brief moments.
All VR looks goofy to outside observers.
Then again, when it comes to centralized, algorithmic social media and video platforms, divisive topics win the day!

I seem to have occasional vision problems when my “distance mix” over time has too much close-up work vs. too little far-away vision. (It’s a convergence issue—aiming muscles—not a focus issue.)
What if I could have my windows really big, spread out at multiple distances significantly farther than a computer screen?
And what if I could use them outdoors in variable scenery that draws my eyes to the distance in a way boring walls can’t?

Apple Vision Pro isn't out yet, and Google has already scrapped their plans for a simple pair of glasses. Now they're partnering with Samsung to make a pair of AR goggles.

What a day! I was lucky enough to attend a Vision Pro Lab. While I can’t talk about the lab itself, it’s been a huge help in understanding the platform and its interactions.

In the past, during the era of Flash®, I used to think that interactivity couldn't evoke the same emotions as other forms of media. I believed that making rational decisions during interactive experiences hindered emotional connection, except for games which had a unique narrative-driven mechanic 🤷

As far as I can tell, apps on Vision Pro don’t use accent colors for buttons. That makes sense since Apple encourages apps to use bordered buttons. Some have a coloured background for differentiation, but that seems to be it.

A 14” #MacBookPro with #ApplePencil support would be my dream computer. Until Apple makes #VisionPro so magical that all I need is a keyboard (and an Apple Pencil) that I can use its backside as a drawing surface. I’m also very curious about how well does the current #visionOS do with occlusion.

Thesis: the rise of small smartphone screens as the predominant way the world accesses information has had negative effects on the presentation and understanding (and toleration!) of complex, well-evidenced content.
It hasn't helped either that one can so easily stare at them 5sec at a time before swiping to the next thing in the middle of other activities.
I wonder what a thing like #VisionPro -- if ever cheap enough for most people -- with its promise of an "infinite canvas" will do.
