Somehow, I managed to get some not-terrible photos of some of my wearable art scarves this afternoon. The natural light here is best for photographing my art in the late afternoon.

Photographing these scarves is challenging. It's hard to get the details and overall patterns.

Transformed plain grey sweatshirt dress into fall dress. So it's still not beautiful - it is an oversized grey sweatshirt, beautiful isn't in it - but hell, I'm proud of it. Cut the stamps out of rubber block, used acrylic paints. 😁 Now, as well as insanely comfortable, it's more interesting. As is the case with so much of my art, it looks kind of like something a slightly demented 4th grader might make on a rainy afternoon. Yay! #wearableart #art #blockprinting

Cat Sitting In A Flower Pot, Oahu, Hawaii.

Oahu is estimated to be home to more than 300,000 of the estimated 2 million feral cats that roam the Hawaiian Islands. European colonists originally brought cats to the islands after using them as natural rodent-control systems on shipboard.

Lacking larger predatory mammals in Hawaii, the feral cats were able to survive, thrive, and reproduce amidst a rich buffet of many smaller, more vulnerable native animals. This has led to what some call Hawaii's "cat crisis."
In recent years, some of the damage to native wildlife from feral cats has been mitigated, thanks to Hawaii’s teams of land managers and predator controllers. As state policy, Hawaii has to date relied on the capture, spaying or neutering, and adoption of feral cats.

Some groups, like the Kauai Community Cat Project, believe in the efficacy of TNR, which stands for “trap, neuter, release.” This requires catching feral cats, having them sterilized by a veterinarian, and releasing them back where they were found, always supported by plenty of regular meals.

The KCCP volunteers believe that their work is a humane way to upgrade the wild cats’ living conditions, address the overwhelming overpopulation problem, and curb the loss of native birds. The Hawaiian Humane Society has humane traps available for rent on Oahu. The city and county of Honolulu subsidizes free sterilization of free-roaming cats at participating veterinary providers.

Complexity in simplicity

The idea for the 'woven' #ring came while I was still a student of the late Samir Mattar in his #JewelleryMaking course in Urca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I went away with some scraps and basic tools to my grandparents' farm, and worked with what I had at hand.
