Good try in trying to derail the conversation. It's about the de facto (in reality or in practice) #occupation of the #West Bank.
I noticed you don't dispute that the #Israeli #settlers are there or that the #IDF controls the situation there in favour of the settlers. This leaves little power for any #Palestinian administration or any individual Palestinian.
The rest of your post is just deflection. This makes it a post in bad faith. Blocked.
A map may not show the gradual encroaching by #Israeli settlers on #Palestinian land in the #West Bank. If so, it's irrelevant anyway. But this doesn't make the the facto occupation is any less real or less supported by the #IDF.
If #Israel didn't take some land & has no intention to take at least some more. Why is the IDF than even there? Why are the settlers even there?

In Blankenfelde hat die Deutsche Bahn (DB) mit der teilweisen #Inbetriebnahme des neuen Kombinationsbahnsteiges ein weiteres Etappenziel beim Ausbau der #Dresdner Bahn erreicht. Nach siebenmonatiger Bauzeit ging am 10. November die #Bahnsteighälfte für den #Regionalverkehr in Betrieb: #Regionalzüge halten wieder in Blankenfelde und können aus #Elsterwerda, #Finsterwalde und #Wünsdorf-Waldstadt wieder ins Berliner Zentrum und zum #Flughafen #BER verkehren.
Heute haben sich Alexander Kaczmarek, Konzernbevollmächtigter der DB für Berlin, Brandenburg und Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Hartwig Rolf, Abteilungsleiter Verkehr im Ministerium für Infrastruktur und Landesplanung des Landes Brandenburg, und Michael Schwuchow, Bürgermeister der Gemeinde Blankenfelde-Mahlow, die Arbeiten vor Ort angesehen und die nächsten Schritte erläutert.
Die DB investiert rund 100 Millionen Euro in den #Bahnhofsumbau und die Beseitigung des Bahnübergangs im Bahnhofsbereich.
Alexander Kaczmarek, Konzernbevollmächtigter der DB für Berlin, Brandenburg und Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: „Eines der größten Bahnausbau-Projekte für eine ‚Starke Schiene‘ in Berlin-Brandenburg geht sichtlich voran. In Blankenfelde wird einmal mehr spürbar, dass es bei der Dresdner Bahn um weit mehr geht als um zusätzliche Schienen und einen neuen Flughafen-Express in die Berliner City. Aber auch der rückt heute wieder ein Stück näher.“
Hartwig Rolf, Abteilungsleiter Verkehr im Ministerium für Infrastruktur und Landesplanung des Landes Brandenburg: „Heute haben wir einen weiteren Meilenstein beim Wiederaufbau der Dresdner Bahn gesetzt. Von den schnelleren Verbindungen nach Berlin, zum BER und nach Dresden werden auch die Fahrgäste aus Brandenburg profitieren. Der nächste Schritt für den Bahnhof Blankenfelde wird die Fertigstellung des neuen Kombibahnsteigs sein. Dadurch wird sich die #Verknüpfung von S-Bahn und Regionalbahn noch einmal deutlich verbessern. So schaffen wir einen weiteren Baustein, um die Attraktivität im SPNV zu erhöhen und die Verkehrswende voranzubringen.“
Michael Schwuchow, Bürgermeister der Gemeinde Blankenfelde-Mahlow: „Seit vier Jahren wird an vielen Stellen Blankenfelde-Mahlows für die Dresdner Bahn gebaut: Eine beeindruckende planerische und logistische Herausforderung für die Verantwortlichen, aber auch eine große Herausforderung für unsere Bürgerinnen und Bürger, die teilweise sieben Tage die Woche- teils auch nachts – von den direkten Auswirkungen der Baumaßnahmen betroffen sind. Zwei weitere Jahre stehen uns noch bevor. Das heutige Etappenziel, die #Wiederinbetriebnahme des Bahnhofs in Blankenfelde, zeigt dahingehend, dass sich das Aushalten durchaus lohnt. Jede einzelne Eröffnung, jede Freigabe und jeder Bauabschluss bedeuten eine spürbare Verbesserung der Lebensqualität in unserer Gemeinde.“
Seit April 2023 baut die DB an dem kombinierten 170 Meter langen Bahnsteig für den Regional- und S-Bahnverkehr. Nach der Fertigstellung des neuen Kombinationsbahnsteigs baut die DB außerdem noch einen neuen #Außenbahnsteig, an dem später stadteinwärts fahrende Regionalzüge halten werden. Parallel dazu ersetzt sie den #Bahnübergang #Karl-Marx-Straße, der sich im Bahnhofsbereich befindet, durch eine #Eisenbahnüberführung.
Bis die Eisenbahnüberführung Karl-Marx-Straße im Jahr 2025 fertig gestellt ist, läuft der #S-Bahnverkehr planmäßig am alten S-Bahnsteig. Dieser wird nach Inbetriebnahme des vollständig umgebauten Bahnhofs bis zum Fahrplanwechsel im Dezember 2025 abgerissen.
Der Wiederaufbau der Dresdner Bahn (Berlin #Südkreuz – #Blankenfelde) und Ausbau der Strecke Berlin – #Dresden sowie der sogenannten #Mahlower Kurve leisten einen wichtigen Beitrag für eine leistungsfähige S-Bahn, kürzere Reisezeiten im Regionalverkehr von der Berliner Innenstadt zum Flughafen BER und in die brandenburgische #West-Lausitz sowie im #Fernverkehr zwischen Berlin und Dresden. Ziel ist, zusätzliche #Kapazitäten und #kürzere #Fahrtzeiten für den klimafreundlichen #Bahnverkehr von Berlin Richtung Süden zu schaffen.
Insgesamt investieren Bund, die Länder Berlin und Brandenburg sowie die DB dafür rund 3 Milliarden Euro. Alle Arbeiten sollen im Dezember 2029 beendet sein.

Among the programs recommended for discontinuance, World Languages including all 32 faculty positions. WVU is also recommending the elimination of several programs in the College of Creative Arts, graduate programs in higher education administration and special education.
On twitter there is a lot of bemoaning about the importance of languages but the students are voting with their feet. Indeed, most of these programs are only sustained by foreign language requirements which are increasingly otiose in a world with ubiquitous instant translation.
What’s going on in WV is thus a reflection of national trends, magnified by West Virginia’s own decline in population. Full paying foreign students from China are also way down. Now add to declining college demographics, budgets hit by the great recession and then the pandemic.
Now add in the rise of online learning which means that universities can outsource low-demand classes to other universities and save money and quite likely increase quality.
Finally, add in the fact that a substantial part of the electorate would like to see a decline in programs they see as politicized.
Put it all together and the only surprise is how long it has taken for the ax to fall. You can be sure, however, that there is more chopping to be done.

Most strikingly, despite enormous problems, people are a lot more upbeat, optimistic, and have taken their destiny in their own hands (they are not expecting our handouts, or our "help" to solve their problems) lest their lives are altered by catastrophes not of their creation. Contrast that with us in the West, we seem to wallow, and whine in catastrophism and pessimism. Where's the sense of optimism that literally made the US what it is? If we are ever going to change the world, we better start there, changing our mindset and being more proactive and having a sense of public commitment and not lease that off to the privateers.

People are way more aware and mindful in the usage and disposal of resources (water, food, waste etc.,), build tree covers, less/no use of single-use plastics etc., without thumping their chest that they are "saving the planet". Maybe as a consequence of the pandemic or otherwise, the levels of public sanitation, and cleanliness were the best I have seen. For us, in the West, conservation seems to be an empty slogan to soothe our heartburns!

How about overhauling the MBTA in Boston (supposedly one of the better mass transit systems in the US that looks even more like a joke) for example?
Before people give excuses as to why it is hard: Chennai is even more chaotic, ten times more populated than Boston and way more densely so, with more traffic and pollution, with an old transportation system that already exists, with as much contestations about property and homeowner rights (and all the cacophony of a "democracy"), much less money than here, much more corruption than here, and a much much harsher weather in which everything has to be built. If Chennai can create a stunningly modern, efficient and squeaky clean metro that is cheap (which no US city currently has), then our excuse can only boil down to lethargy, NIMBYism, rabid individualism, indifference, and lack of any will.

So what is it that they are doing there, and we are not?
For example, in the city of Chennai (it's true for other cities in India too), they believe, including some level of political will and intention, that a modern, extensive, cheap, and energy efficient mass transportation and metro system is a necessity. To that end they have built several new lines that are operational, including overhauling old ones, and will complete several more new lines in the next few years. Not to forget, just Tamilnadu, the state in which Chennai is, already generates more from wind energy than any Scandinavian country.
Meanwhile our solution in the US is to talk about individual electric vehicles, autonomous self-driving, hyperloops for cars, AI for mitigating climate change, web 3.0, or whatever gets cooked up by the geniuses at silicon valley.

While the weather was brutal (at least for me, having lived almost all my adult life in the US), the environment and resources extremely precarious, the political landscape chaotic, high levels of unemployment and inequality, decimation of the countryside, intensification of existing hierarchies (caste and otherwise) through the import of gig and app economies (thanks to the previous iteration of the "revolutionary" gift from silicon valley), people are going about their lives, adapting (and surviving), being creative whether it be arts or sciences (my mind shuts down completely in that heat), and most of all finding their own solutions out of this mess that they neither created, nor are perpetuating.
It hit me quite viscerally that we in the West are entirely unprepared to change or adapt and not willing to have the slightest changes/disruptions in our lifestyle. If people still hold on to the idea that reversing the effects of climate change is a possibility and we can continue our ways of live, they better wake up from that dream!

The breakthroughs necessary to provide for decent lives in the face of global warming and climate change (which is already here, and not some tipping point in 2027 or 2030 etc etc.,), and modernize such a society is quite different and far removed from the technologies for which much of capital, hype, and attention seems to be directed at. So in what sense are these world-changing technologies beyond the usual march of capitalism into newer territories? If consumerism is the heart of revolutionary technologies of our era, where are the low-cost, energy and resource efficient, sustainable HVAC units, refrigerators, washer/dryers etc., which will qualitatively change peoples lives? Last I checked, almost no elite academic/corporate entity in the West is working on any of these. Some world-changing tech we seem to be working on.

It was quite refreshing and a much needed reset for me to view from outside the hype-bubble of AI (as this purported revolutionary, epoch-making or world-changing technological breakthrough), and witness its almost irrelevance and even be a detriment/nuisance to the day-to-day lives of people there.
AI in its best-case scenario can be a useful tool, far from the world-changing tech constantly beamed on social media and elsewhere, and it hits you really hard when you see people living in 100+ F weather almost constantly. The feels like temperature was consistently between 45-50 Celsius during the daytime with high humidity for the entirety of my stay and this now lasts months in that part of the world!!.

I have mixed feelings about all the publicity raising the injustices in #Qatar because of course it’s great to care about #HumanRights but it really does make me wonder why aren’t people bothered by such injustices outside the context of a #WorldCup. Because they’re not unique to that country or to this specific time. I grew up in the #MiddleEast & hardly anyone in the #West cared about such injustices or asked their government why they facilitate them by working with those who instigate them.
To this end, we, the #West, have a duty to immediately deliver heavy weapons to the #Ukrainian resistance, especially much-needed artillery and self-propelled howitzers, but also combat aircraft, ballistic rockets and long-range cruise missiles to destroy military targets already on #russian soil, even before they can wreak havoc. There cannot be #peace without #freedom!
