You know, those stiff metal rectangles with mesh inside of them that:
- refuse to come out of the window
- refuse to go into the window
- when in the window act as if they are too small for the window
- if the metal bends, it's gonna break
- magically gain holes in the mesh

#Curious if folks have found a #better way?

A couple times I've used the smaller, adjustable inserts and those are nice - but generally don't fill the entirety of larger windows.

During the summer I stopped being able to raise my front passenger side window.

Money was tight, it seemed like an expensive thing to get fixed. I taped a little note "Window" to my dashboard to remind me to reach over to close that window so rain wouldn't get in my car.

Months later people in a Honda Civic forum told me the problem could be solved by replacing the driver's side windows switch assembly. It could be done with a screw driver.

Did that today, all the windows work again. Total cost: ~$19 USD.

Create a feeling of using a website in an app by hiding the browser’s user interface.

In Vivaldi, you can install web pages as Progressive Web Apps, aka PWAs, or open them in separate User Profiles, to give a feeling that you’re using them separately in a dedicated app. These are more permanent options, but there’s another solution for a quick temporary option.

To get an app-like feeling of a website:

Open the web page in a new browser window.
For that window, toggle the UI off to hide the toolbars in one of the following ways:
- Go to the Vivaldi menu > Window > Hide UI;
- Type “Toggle UI” in Quick Commands;
- Use the Keyboard Shortcut Ctrl+F11;
- Create a Mouse Gesture for the action.

Since the user interface is toggled off only in the current window, you’ll still see all your other windows with the usual toolbars.

I had a backlog of Polaroids to scan, a little Sunday project. My Polaroid SLR 690 camera is in need of a repair and I've been dragging my feet to get it fixed. The first two photos were taken with the 690 and 600 film whereas the last two were taken with an SX-70 with SX-70 film.

The wall itself is made of vertical wooden slats, which have been painted a very attractive shade of darkening blue.

Set into the wall is a wooden window. The window frame is unpainted, showing off the wood grain. I've no idea what kind of wood it is.

The window has four panes, allowing us to see the items sat on the window sill inside.

In the left-most pane, there's an empty red vase.

In the right-most pane, there's an ornate horse. We can't tell whether it is ceramic or cast.

In the middle, there's a display of flowers peeking out from behind the window frame. They're sat in a vase that's largely hidden from view by the frame.

Behind the window hangs a net curtain, granting privacy to those inside.

For #FensterFreitag here's a window in a street in #Bergen, #Norway with a bit of a character staring out. Please don't feel threatened by her; she's completely armless.

We're looking upwards at the top floor of a building with unpainted wooden slats covering its face, behind which we can see a rising hill covered in trees under a grey, damp-feeling day. There's a window that we're looking at, comprising two panes, one tall and rectangular, one square above it, both open and allowing a glimpse into the room beyond. In that room all we can see is dark except for the figure right by the window: it is a female mannequin with no arms, no hair, no clothing on, so topless and positioned as if to stare out wistfully over our heads.
