[Nat Geo] Why is America running out of water?:
"By 2100 the U.S. population will have increased by nearly 200 million, with a total population of some 514 million people. Given that we use water for everything, the simple math is that more people mean more water stress across the country."
Напомняне, че проблемът засяга и България 🇧🇬.
🔴 През тази година особено тревожна е ситуацията в източната част на страната, както се вижда и от изображенията, които публикувахме преди месец.

A beautiful afternoon out.
There’s something magical about being on #water or in #nature. You cannot put it in words, but you feel it deep within – it touches your spirit. Feeling connected to the waves and nature makes us feel healed and restored. It gives us strength, drains away all negative energy and fills us to the brim with positive energy. A design for life.
“Everything in nature invites us constantly to be what we are.”

It's #worldwaterday. Here is a lake we should all care about Lago Cocibolca. It's the largest lake in Central America, yet there is almost no research underway there, and conservation activities outside of modest #pasopacifico efforts are absent. The good news is that the bull sharks are back after four decades since the shark-finning operations were closed.

Tip No. One: FIX YOUR LEAKS!
Fossil water -- underground reservoirs trapped in rock -- accounts for up to 85% of all groundwater. Billions of people rely on fossil aquifers for their drinking water and as irrigation to grow staple food crops.
But ancient these reserves are running dry. Experts predict that by 2025, over 60% of humanity will experience water scarcity.
Mercury pollution and overfishing pose massive threats to the food supply for the billions of people worldwide who depend on sustenance fishing for survival.

It's #CupOfTeaSocial #QuizQuestion time! Today is #WorldWaterDay which is all about raising awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water. One of the risks of living without access to safe drinking water is the disease cholera which currently infects somewhere between 1.3million and 4million people every year according to the CDC.
As late as the 1850s people thought that cholera was caused by 'miasma' (literally 'bad air'). That all changed thanks to a ground breaking study of an outbreak in London centred around Broad Street carried out by an English physician who correctly deduced that the disease is actually water borne.
Give or take a letter, that physician shares a name with a Game of Thrones character. Who was he?
The sea is powerful poetry, a metaphor for everything we do. For the spiritual, the sea is a reminder of their Lord. The sea is science, reality, influencing rainfall and weather.

The #WorldWaterDay on 22 March serves as a crucial reminder that #water is an indispensable resource for life. The availability of drinking water in sufficient quantity and quality, along with many other important #ecosystem services, depends on a near-natural water cycle, intact water bodies, diverse aquatic #habitats and #species communities. Everyone deserves equitable access to clean and safe water. According to WHO/UNICEF, in 2021, 2 billion people lack safe drinking water globally. Discoveries of #aquifers often create excitement around their ability to ease water scarcity in a region.
For instance, about 10 years ago a large aquifer was discovered in Kenya’s Turkana region. This is one of the hottest, driest parts of Kenya and it frequently suffers from drought.
The government claimed that the aquifer could supply the entire country with water for 70 years.
I made this #linocut a couple of years ago for the #printersolstice prompt "Blood, Sweat and Tears" about how we as people reflect our origines in the ocean. I thought I would share it today for #WorldWaterDay to stress that we are nothing without clean water, as we are literally mostly water ourselves.

Water is a collective good.
At the UN Water Conference, we joined forces with the international community to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
For our part, we presented 33 commitments to:
- Support water and sanitisation for 70 million people
- Mobilise finance via #GlobalGateway
- Reinforce multilateralism on water with the UN at its core
- Bolster climate and circular economy policies
