Batari, one of the female tigers at Tulsa Zoo

Finally got to see the new male tiger at Tulsa Zoo today! His name is Raja. He has a deep timbre voice!

A Golden-Breasted Starling (Königsglanzstar) seen in a large walk-through aviary at the Berlin Zoo. Their natural habitat is in Eastern Africa such as Somalia or Ethiopia.

Finally got a photo of the baby Diana Monkey born at Tulsa Zoo on Feb 17, 2023!
My favorite jaguar at Tulsa Zoo turned 19 years old! What a grand old lady!

These birds are native to India and Southeast Asia

This time a cougar sticking it's tongue out!
Ashanti, one of the White Storks at Tulsa Zoo.
She is an avid nest builder as she builds a nest every spring. She shares her paddock with Aurora another female white stork, so if there are eggs in that nest, they aren't fertile. Aurora, on the other hand, is not into building nests!
This is Addison, one of the Red Pandas at Tulsa Zoo. I call her Addy and right after I called her name, this is what I got! Animals love to stick their tongues out at me! 🤣
Maybe she doesn't like to be called by a nickname? 🤔

Stormy, one of the female Diana Monkeys at Tulsa Zoo
Such a contemplative look.
(one of the few animals that have never stuck their tongues out at me LOL)
Lexi the giraffe at Tulsa Zoo for Tongue Out Tuesday!
(and again, animals do like to stick their tongues out at me!)
The snow leopard brothers, Kavi and Amir at Tulsa Zoo
And another example of an animal sticking it's tongue out at me 🤣
Can you guess what type of critter this is?
What big ears you have!
Fennec Foxes are desert dwellers and needs these big ears to cool off (blood flows near the surface of the skin for release of heat).
Zum 12. Todestag von Knut! Im Gedenken an Eisbär Knut, meine Bilder-Galerie...
Es war nach 30 Jahren die erste Geburt eines Eisbären im Zoologischen Garten. …und gleich ein „Superstar“!

I'm going to go with a big cat photo for today's #Caturday - this is Bhanu, a male Asiatic lion at ZSL London Zoo.
He had just climbed atop a wooden platform from which he was looking down.
He then settled down to relax in the sun and I took a short 4k video of him doing so:

Cute Cotton, the arctic fox at Tulsa Zoo, deigned to pose for me!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Pandai, the 6 month old siamang at Tulsa Zoo, has started separating from mom for short bits of time, practicing his moves 😍
It's #caturday
Junebug, the bobcat at Tulsa Zoo, with a happy expression on its face
Pandai, the 5 month old baby siamang, is starting to venture away from mom and working on swinging on his own, under close supervision by mom and dad (who aren't shown in this closeup).

Whoo are you?
The male spectacled owl in the Rainforest Exhibit at Tulsa Zoo
When I talk to this pair of owls, they will hoot quietly back in response. I wish I understood "owl" 😁
A cute binturong at Tulsa Zoo. While I can't get close enough to verify, binturong smell like buttered popcorn.
Chimp Morris posing for the camera. 😍
Morris usually turns his back to me when I point the camera at him. I was thrilled he let me take his photo! 2/2/23
Pandai, the 5+ month old siamang, looking cute! Mom, Boomerang, on the left, Dad, Jambi, on the right.
Siamang are monogamous and dads take over rearing of the offspring once they finish nursing. Both Boomerang and Jambi are great parents!

A yellow mongoose at Woburn Safari Park.
It's very unusual for a carnivore to have horizontal slit pupils - those are more usually found on herbivores.
Big cats for #Caturday
Shatari, the lioness at Tulsa Zoo, giving an affectionate head bump to lion Kalu.
Striking a Pose
While I don't understanding the meaning, flamingos will extend and hold their wings in interesting positions while often making unusual sounds.

Dara, the 1+ year old tiger cub at Tulsa Zoo, with her whiskers quite extended!
Addison, one of the red pandas at Tulsa Zoo sticking her tongue out.
Honestly, I'd swear animals love to stick their tongues out at me!
Boomerang, the female siamang at Tulsa Zoo. Siamang are apes (and not monkeys). Also can you spy baby Pandai?

Seeing Eye to Eye
These are two female White Storks that live together at Tulsa Zoo, sharing a bowl of food
The zoo seems to have a lot of luck with their various breeding programs, though good news is rarely without bad. Three cubs were born to the snow leopard pair. One, sadly, didn't survive, but we were able to enjoy watching the surviving snow leopards grow up & thrive. They are now in new homes, to hopefully have families of their own as part of zoo breeding programs, but it was wonderful being able to see them for as long as we did.
One snowy day in the zoo. The lions and cheetahs seem to not mind the snow, choosing to go outdoors rather than stay indoors. And when they get tired of the cold, they have heated caves to enjoy so they can people watch or snooze until their keepers bring them in.
A couple of silly nubian goats in the petting yard at Tulsa Zoo.
"Who are you?"
An Inca Jay at Tulsa Zoo who is just as inquisitve about me as I was about it!
This is Boomerang, a siamang at Tulsa Zoo, with her 3 month old baby boy!
An interesting fact, the mom takes care of the offspring while nursing for the first 1-2 years then the dad takes over raising the kids after that. 😁
#Siamang are an #ape and not a #monkey
